    Revlimter Lenses for Gauge Clusters

    revlimiter Lenses

    • High performance anti-reflective lenses for various aftermarket gauge clusters.
    • <2% total reflectivity, ~97% light transmission.
    • Double sided AR coating. This is a chemical process, not a mechanical frosting.
    • Lenses are shatter resistant and abrasion resistant.
    • Optical quality, like high quality eyeglasses for your gauges.

Hit my store for price and ordering info!

No photoshop trickery. This is exactly what my camera shows, sized down and watermarked. Lights are the same on both lamps.

Two plain glass lenses, two revlimiter Lenses, and no glass over the oil gauge opening.

This shows the performance quite well under the most harsh conditions. While there is some reflection, you can still see the scale and numbers on the right side gauges easily. The left side is totally blown out.

    Graphs are awesome.

The lenses are installed in this shot.

    Original post:
There was a thread not long ago about anti-reflective glass for KG Works clusters. I'm preparing to get some cut. My water jet shop gives me great rates and I have a local source for museum-quality anti-reflective UV protective glass. I thought I'd post and see what sort of interest there might be.

I've got a KGW cluster in Sharka. Joel (voteforpedro) has sent me a set of RS Refine rings to get glass made for. I'm not really interested in doing more than these two sizes at the moment. I'm also not really looking to do anything sexy with the NB KGW cluster and try to make glass for it. Sorry NB guys. Perhaps in the future.

As for pricing... I honestly have no idea. I've not even asked the water jet for a quote, but I've got a guestimate in my head. I'm hoping to be able to offer a set of glass for the $60 to $75 range. Shipping would add a few bucks on top of that. Please realize, I'm not sure if this price point is possible, but I *think* it might be.

So... please form a list below so that I can get an idea of how many might be interested.

    NB ...
I've got a lot less horsepower - luckily they are Japanese horses - usually in better shape and more motivated.

the idea is best for the NB guys as the KGW did not come with independent glass.

Agreed, a set for NB would be nice, but not sure I want to tackle installation job, Eric or Hyper probably have more free time than me though.

As far as I know, the NB KG Works cluster IS NOT COMPATIBLE with glass in an unmodified form. It needs significant mods before it can actually take five individual pieces of glass. That's beyond the scope of this project and why I didn't want to offer it.

Please, for the time being, just limit the discussion to the two items mentioned, KGW NA glass and RS Refine glass.

Out of curiosity, what price would be too much? Keep in mind that the "OEM" option from KGW is selling for the $175 range.

I think I have a set of RS-Refine rings here somewhere, I need to dig them out now, I thought they came WITH glass?? If not then I might want to order a set too !!

Also, how are you planning to adhere the glass to the rings?

RS Refine came with plexi. KGW came with glass. Both are very reflective. This stuff I'll produce will be as anti-reflective as current glass tech allows.

All glass that I have made will be identical size to the original and will just go in place of the original. On the KG cluster, it's sandwiched between pieces of metal. On the RS Refine, I believe the glass glues in.

It's been a while since I've had mine apart. How easy is will it be to change the glass out for the non-reflective one? Is there adhesive?

And here is why you want anti-glare glass in your KGW cluster

I took mine apart yesterday to measure the glass. =)

1: Remove KGW gauge cluster cover from car.
2: Unscrew the four corner screws. They use a 2mm hex key.
3: Unscrew five indicator lights. You can use your fingers. You need to remove all the ones with the big chrome bezel: turn, high beam, and the two amber ones.
4: the two metal plates now separate easily. Swap the glass.
    5: reinstall in reverse order.

    -edit-
At least that's how mine came apart. I know KGW changed stuff over the years. Some have all metal parts. Some have a mix of metal and plastic. Some use plastic on the bottom layer. I don't think the glass was glued in on any of them. It just pressure fits.
