    KG Works corner Window

Question for the OG on here. Do these KG Works part exist?

I have seen a couple of cars on Minkara with opening quarter window but photos I have seen are unclear if they were bespoke or manufacturered.

Only firm I can see in Japan who may have done them is KG Works (see link) but their website doesn't seem clear if they went into production or not.

    http://www.kgworks.co.jp/4-c-999-english.html

Any ideas if these were made by KG Works or another company?

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure I qualify as OG, but I read the site in Japanese and the latest is that they could not afford to make them in Japan and so in December of last year they had a shop in Germany make the 5th-generation prototype, which is undergoing testing now. In other words, it's not yet for sale, but it is still undergoing development, and with five generations, they've committed to bringing it to market if at all possible.

Oh, also for those interested, this is in development for NA and NB cars. I know I am interested, at least!

They have been trying to make it for years, it's just been too expensive to produce. Last I recall it was north of $400 and I don't see average miata owners willing to spend that kinda money for a corner window.

Thanks guys for the replies and information. Nice part but unless they find a cheaper way to reproduce guess it's never going to happen. Imagine if it is gone to Germany for development that maybe linked with IL Motorsport as I know they have distributed KG Works products before.

It's north of $1000, not 400. And I will buy when it's released for any dollar amount. I've wanted it for too long to let price get in the way.

I think if you have a complete car, and you have the extra money, it would be easier to justify the extra expense, however if your car is rather stock $1000 can get you a lot more for the money.

That being said, I would still be interested in the final product, but I would have to sell off some extra parts to try to bring my overall costs down on that item, at least that is how I would justify it in my head

Perhaps not surprisingly, I too would consider buying a set depending on the final quality; I am somewhat surprised at the choice of Germany rather than China, Vietnam, or Thailand for production. Certainly the Germans make quality kit but if Nikon and other companies can find competent production in SEA, KG could, and for much less, one would think. It could be, though, that given the projected cost, KG thinks a "made in China" tag could not be marketable.

I have read stuff about these going back to 2006. I did not even know they were still attempting to produce them. I would def be in for a set or possibly two, if they do come to fruition.

I'd be interested in a set too, hopefully they can finally get this project off the ground.

I am pretty sure he is avoiding the other asian countries due to their lack of following trademark agreements. I have seen plenty of companies design a product, then get it get that product made in China, buy a ton to sell in the USA from the Chinese manufacture, and then a few months later you see the same item on eBay at COST by sellers from China.
