Cool Product Review: ISIS Performance NA Exhaust

I initially made my review over at CR: but figured I would post here since some members do not hop the border, thus this is a copypasta from there.

While the other guy prototyped the NB exhaust, I was the one prototyping the NA exhaust. TLDR; I am very pleased.

For the NA, we have a bit of a different configuration from the NB exhaust. The exhaust by ISIS performance, comes in three pieces, and is still header back. The kit comes with a resonator, the after cat section (which ends right after the axle), and the muffler section. Having the exhaust in 3 pieces instead of the stock 2 makes installation a breeze. I think it took me longer to remove the stock exhaust system then it did to install the new one.

Install was very easy, as long as you know how to tighten nuts and bolts. First, hang the exhaust systems into their respectful hangers. Next, loosely install the hardware. Then align everything, and tighten the hardware down real good!

I was firstly, concerned with ride height. I am by no means "slammed" but would say I am moderately slammed, and have no issues with ground clearance.

The design, and finish is rather awesome. It's been on my car a few months now, and the stainless steel really keeps the exhaust looking good. For those of you looking for an RSR style, this is the way to go.

I thought, with my old manish ways, that the sound might be too loud. I can assure you, it has some very good sound to it. Idling, the car makes a very hearty grumble, on acceleration, it sounds like no other exhaust I have heard; no rasp. The drone is not bad either. I have taken it on highway speeds, and found its not too loud. I do have a hardtop, and am running stock headers, so yours may vary.

Here is some pictures for you viewing pleasure!

Thanks for looking. The exhaust can be purchased through http://www.isisperformance.com or any of their dealers.

    From their website:

The current NA Miata exhausts have been tested on the OBD1 1.8L NA Miatas and do not feature a secondary o2 bung, also they have not been tested on the 1.6L. Pending test fitment on the later year 1.8L and early year 1.6L a new front resonated pipe and test pipe may be developed to fit the 1.6, and a secondary o2 may be added for the later year 1.8L NA.
This exhaust will fit on a 1.6 car. I have an OEM exhaust off a 94 on my 91 right now. ODB2 cars (96 and 97) will need an O2 bung added.

Correct, it's only stated as that because it's 1. A business and doesn't want to falsely advertise and 2. It physically hasn't been put on a 1.6 yet

First batch (50 total) did not have the secondary O2 bung. The next batch will have it and a plug for those that don't need it.

So you are the guinea pig?

Would be easy just to have them make all the res pipes with the OBD2 bung and make them come with a plug for the OBD1 guys

I am indeed the guinea pig!

That's the plan! And for anyone who wants one now, any muffler shop should be able to weld a bung on. Another member with a 96' did it!

Travyss, many thanks for all the photos, video and details! Much appreciated. That's really quite the effort.

What an unfortunate name though. At least the NSA will be upping the view count here.

They were Isis before Isis was cool. Oh, wait... terrorists aren't cool.

The video is misleading, it's not farty or raspy. It's actually throaty and deep. I unfortunately don't own any kind of high quality video cameras, nor anything that would capture the sound accurately.
