Anyone seeing the crazy prices 1028 trunklids are bringing? I threw a bid at the last one, which was rough, and it sold for $2,230USD before shipping! The previous one was closer to $3k.

Anyone know a part # or source for the M2 1028 tombstone side plastic push-pin retainer clip thing-a-ma-jigs? There was a seller selling them on Buyee/Yahoo JP a while back, but I never picked up any, and now wish I had. Getting close to installing my 1028 console.

    Thanks, -Matt

No, but if you find out, please let me know. I’ve never used them on mine. To be honest I thought that it used trim screws there and I didn’t want to put new holes in my dashboard so I’ve never put anything there.

    Would something like this work?

I know it is not genuine but if you found a small enough push clip it would look great.

I’m sure there is. But it isn’t me. For one, I’ve never liked the idea of drilling the factory body and riveting the fuel lid base to the car. Second, I don’t think it’s unique or special enough to justify the expense. Personally, I think the Zoom Engineering and Runabout Type 1 lids offer similar visual interest for only 15% the cost. If I could acquire a carbon fiber M2-1001 style fuel lid like Morizo’s M2-1028R I’d totally do that instead.

I guess it is an investment that will only go up in price. 10 years from now we may be saying " I could've gotten a M2 fuel lid for only $1500'

I agree wholeheartedly about drilling a dozen holes into the bodywork above my trunk. I do really like the idea of a single gas-cap, though. If someone were to make an M2-style threaded filler cap with a Zoom-style rivet-less base, I'd pay good money for one. Not $1500, though!

Nah that was back the late 1990s to early 2000, I was saying man I could have bought an M2 fuel lid for $300 but was too expensive back then lol

but for that price would rather buy an M2 Bumper

M2 1028 mirror bases for 50,000yens. So, around another $200 for the Vitaloni mirror shells/mirrors to make a set of M2 1028 mirrors. Pricey indeed. They will probably sell though.

Are they cast aluminum painted black?

My original bases are and these look to be. Just a little pitted around the screw holes.
