The thing is that NB2s sold in Greece had their AC system installed here; hence it is not the same compressor as the factory installed ones. I have been wanting to upgrade the system to something better for a while, so I may go for an OEM RX8 scroll type compressor and a universal aftermarket condenser. This one has great feedback, and it is a 4-pass one

Not sure what to do about the evaporator though (if it needs replacing). Any other items I should check, besides the evaporator valve and the thermoswitch?
If the compressor works, there is leak. Inserting dye and searching for the leak with a UV light would be the course of action to consider.

AC electronics aren’t terribly complicated. Confirming the AC is engaging and pumping is the key, the rest is basic detective work.

I would not expect the wiring to different. In the US, the NB2 has the scroll-type compressor (IIRC), parallel flow condenser.

The relay near the compressor (the cluster behind the left headlight) pressure switch, and thermoswitch that measures from the evaporator are the ones that I would check.

Got 2 weeks off work, visiting my parents and focusing on getting my PhD thesis done. Need to let off some steam, so did a bit of cleaning/clay bar the car. Also decided to give white cluster needles a go, and clipped the tails off of the 2 large ones for that retro look.

Really like the clipped tail part, not sure on the white tho. And the Nakamae starts growing on me.

Also, MS3 mini inside (got removed slowly after, as I forgot my timing light at my place, approx. 150 miles away...)

Excuse the filth, photo before cleanup. Also glad to report that the car is still totally rust free (picked up the carpet, looked inside the sills) besides the small incident with the battery tray. Still need to check front chassis rails tho, but I am confident.

Quite a few things have been happening since I last updated this thread, but not many in terms of car updates or driving (and I can blame COVID for that). However, I came across a small gem today, trying to buy a turn signal lightbulb from all things...

It was brand new, sitting there in the display, so I had to buy it! No box or documentation with it, but cannot complain!

Thanks! The only "issue" that needed addressing was the mounting ring. The one that came with the timer was a Nardi pattern, my wheel is a MOMO, so I needed a new one. Nothing a caliper and a few minutes with CAD cannot solve. 3D printed prototype to double-check fitment and off to laser cutting in brushed stainless.

While I was at it, I decided to make a wall mount for my steering wheel. I DD the Miata when I can, and I like airbags, so I run the OEM Nardi as much as possible. The MOMO Futura spends most of its' time as decoration, however, I live in an earthquake-prone area, and I wanted to have something more secure than placing it on a shelf. I designed a simple tapered dovetail joint, with captive nuts on the front part to mount the steering wheel. The rear part will get bolted in the wall, allowing me to put the wheel on and off easily while being secure enough.

Excuse the red "prototyping" plastic; I buy filament in bulk "surprise" colours for prototyping as it does not really matter and it is a good percentage cheaper this way.

    The finished article!

Well, sort of, as it got covered in self-adhesive velour where it touches the steering wheel, to avoid scratching. Pretty happy with it!

One of the things I have been missing since installing the Nakamae center console was a cupholder and somewhere to put my phone. Car did not see much use due to the COVID restrictions, nevertheless, something had to be done. I designed (with valuable input from mrs. awesome) and built a seat-mounted cupholder/phone mount. The whole thing mounts on the seat rail, and it is a 2-piece design with a 3D printed lock, so it can be removed and stowed away when not in use. Added a 2nd fold-out cupholder, so that the passenger has a slot too. Really happy with the results!

    And installed!

Haha, much appreciated Bryan! Full disclaimer, my better half and I are actually starting a small side-business creating such stuff. It all comes from our inner need to create, and the fact that I typically think "I could do that better" for 90% of the parts I want for my car. We eventually plan to expand to restomods, which has always been a passion for both of us; time will tell if we will ever make it!

That mount for the Trap Timer is slick. The cupholder is too.

I purchased one of Harry's new products, and it finally showed up today. I will be posting about installation in my build thread.
