A really subtle mod, looks right at home! Also, huge thumbs up for Bill being so professional and helpful, and for you giving him the credit he deserves. Really hard to find such people these days...

    Thanks Peter and Harry!

It is a more subtle modification and would virtually go undetected from the outside of the vehicle if not for the carbon fiber finish. Imo, the Zoom Engineering rear view mirror is FANTASTIC! Definitely a part that is equal parts form and function and that doesn't happen very often.

The convex and slightly bigger mirror make a significant improvement in the field of view(just refer to the pics from the drivers seat/view for a idea) and the anti glare coating works amazingly well! After sun down/at night, even if someone had their brights on in a higher vehicle behind me there is virtually no glare, i absolutely love this mirror and highly recommend it for anyone that wants any of the aforementioned benefits!

Just ordered the fuel lid, and the wife is getting me the mirrors for my birthday in February!

Fuel lid showed up past week, super nice piece! Should have the mirrors in hand this week, as they shipped on the 5th! Can't wait to get this stuff installed!

I may do something along the lines of powder coating or hydrodipping the mounts for the mirrors and erhaos even the lid itself, I have a $300 credit at the dippers after winning a contest with them. I'd probably have them done to match the work I had done to my work wheels last year.

Has anyone painted/powder coated a zoom fuel lid? I wonder how it would look?

There was a picture of one powdercoated black and it looked really nice and subtle. However, it is such a nice part I would not do it.

In today's age, is it better to order direct from Zoom Engineering via their website for shipping to USA via EMS? Or is it better to use their Rakuten shop?

I've used their Rakuten shop a couple of times with no issues.

Unfortunately the Rakuten shop closed down a while ago but was an excellent way to view the entire Zoom collection and order directly. They take PayPal and will still ship direct and now that EMS is back to shipping to the US there is a more reasonable cost option. Yoshida-san’s English is very good and they are generally quick to respond.

It seems Zoom Engineering offer the following options:
    1. Purchase directly via the Zoom Engineering website
    2. Rakuten shop
    3. Yahoo! Auctions Japan
    4. Amazon Japan

Unfortunately, I believe my Amazon Prime Membership is limited to the United States and purchases made at Amazon.com so that’s out. And I believe Yahoo!Japan Auctions will require the use of a broker and will incur additional fees. I’ve never purchased from Rakuten before so don’t know the process. Looks like buying direct is my best bet.

I use fromjapan.co.jp for my yja and Rakuten purchases. No additional fees besides like ₯300 flat plan fee. Sometimes they have Rakuten coupons too (5-10%).

I ended up ordering directly from Zoom Engineering. The prices on their website were lowest even when compared to their Rakuten shop. I figure fewer middlemen is better for both Zoom and me. Shipping is the real killer but that's an issue regardless. Fingers crossed it arrives in good condition in a reasonable amount of time. 5 years ago I felt like there was tremendous competition for limited parts. Things have only gotten worse. If there's some rare NA item you've been wanting for a long time, don't delay! These shops and parts might not be here next year....
