    My Second Miata

Just wanted to get this posted up and started to keep track of things!

Backstory... bought my first Miata after test driving 2 of them. This one had 84,000 miles on it and was sold by a lady in Laguna Niguel.

    0125011317.jpg

Amazing times with this car. Still keep up with the new owner.

Sold the car at 12x,000 miles 4 years later to get my first "fast car"... an 07 WRX.

    IMG_20131121_164234.jpg

It was indeed fast. But...with single income at the time, and not really liking monthly payments and full coverage, I couldn't really modify the car to my liking, and 80-90 mph fun was too much risk for me (Miata had much more fun and much lower speeds). Less than one year later, the WRX was sold, and I fell upon a 1999 Miata from an old friend.

After a detail, this was how it sat.

    IMG_20140419_133009.jpg

I now have to compile pictures from various locations...to retrace the past 1.5 years ...

Pulled this out of my car... non-working alarm system... there were even unconnected speakers just hanging out in the shelf...

Realized I didn't really have many pictures other than that it was lowered and has new wheels - oh and red taillight centers!

Not really a Red swap ……a customer '99 I painted Titanium. I had a pair of 93LE seats i set in with a boot, and threw a pair of 95M BBS's.

Are you using DBI, or rattle can?

Currently using rattle can. Bummed out as the first part (center console)...the can spit out blobs. Some were my fault...but most were not Might redo it, but first priority is to see how robust it is to common wear.

    What's DBI btw?

PPGs actual interior paint. (what OEM cars use)
I re did my 93LE back in 2005 and still looks great.
I was very apprehensive about painting red parts, but have done several since and several more to go.
I had them match my seat color since I don't think you could use this on seats, but I did paint everything else.
Check with your local PPG dealer.
Its easy, no pot life and no clear coat to deal with.

Ah yeah - I'm currently rocking Colorbond. So far it's "awesome" - I particularly like the... "dry in 20 minutes" bit to it. But yeah...still looking. Also with PPGs, do you have a link to their interior paint?

Not sure what kinda link you want. Its professional grade, not something your going to find online.
DBI is PPGs Deltron interior paint.
Try this, look under base coat…..its the STS and Data sheets.
    http://us.ppgrefinish.com/PPG-Refini...finish/Deltron
Although I let it dry overnight, DBI was dry to to touch in 20 min or so.

I have used rattle can. While it looked good initially, it just didn't have the longevity.
On a customer car thats a problem.

Red interior idea was scrapped for now. Went to a black interior conversion. Still working on the seats though...

But I finally got around to installing these!

    and at night...

Honestly, I'd love it if the gauges had that purple/amber mix. Very cool.
