    Awesome thanks for that Ben!

Just a query regarding your gauges and HVAC panel...

So I noticed that the gauges light up green and has a green needle. Are you using a green bulb to make the needles green and also to have the gauges illuminate green?

And also with the HVAC, is the panel itself white and illuminated with a green bulb or did you get the panel done so that it illuminates green using the stock white bulb?

Because I got Adam to do my gauges so that when u shine a light behind the gauges, they will light up green which means I can use a white LED bulb, which in turn will make the needle white but the rest of the gauge face green.

That is a very good question, Both my HVAC and gauge faces were order with a green backing from Adam.

I messed around for ages to get the colours right, the gauge cluster when using the original bulbs and the green condoms Adam supplied looked a little washed out, so I brought some new bulbs (not LED's) and used the green covers on them and they were spot on. They are the perfect brightness and lit the needles green too.

With the HVAC panel, it has a green backing on it, but when using the stock bulbs with no covers it made them light up orangey. I purchased 3 different types of bulbs, 2 different LED's and 1 type of normal bulb and fitted the green covers to all of them and kept changing them to get the correct colour and even spread of light. I found that most LED's were too directional and wouldn't light up the centre of the panel. So I found some LED that lit from the sides and not from just the tip of the bulb, I also covered the inside of the HVAC panel (not the panel that Adam supplies, but the housing) with a silver reflective tape, to even up the spread of light. This did the trick and now I have both the HVAC and the gauges lit up in pretty much the same shade of green and the correct brightness.

It was quite a long process, because of the time it takes to remove the dash pieces each time, but definitely worth it.

If you like I can probably send you some links for the new bulbs I purchased for each?

So the bulbs you bought were normal T10 wedge bulbs with the green condom over it to achieve the green? So hypothetically, if you were to have put the white bulbs in, the gauge faces would come out white?

So for the HVAC, Is the bulb also a T10 like the gauge cluster? These too were also using the green condoms correct to achieve the green background?

Sorry for the questions Ben! Ill be doing my installation real soon but just wanted to know from someone who has done it already

    BRGNA8 and Proyea

I went back through my purchase history to try and work out the exact bulbs I used, but it was a little confusing because I brought so many different types. I will work it out though!

I have stock (but brand new) T10 bulbs in the cluster with green overs, the backs of the gauge faces are green too, so if I used without the green covers they would still light up green (with white needles) but it was a much lighter green. Adding the green covers made the panel a much nicer green, and also made the needles green.

I used LED T5 bulbs in the HVAC with green covers. I will remove my HVAC panel and check which ones I used for you.

I havent forgotten about the bulbs Proyea, sorry. Just been busy getting married and have been away on honeymoon. I will get there.

I visited Car Make Corn's last week and got some awesome AWD bits Tomoyo san and her husband were so lovely, I could have stayed there all day. The shop is very cool, with little bits hidden every where. I am back in Tokyo in 2 days time and am considering going back for more!

Congrats on the nuptials Ben and please don't give the bulbs another thought, absolutely no urgency from my side. Glad to see that CMC was part of the honeymoon. I'm also lucky that Mrs.R is very supportive of my MX-5 pursuits and knows if we ever get to Japan together there will be a number of important cultural stops on my list .

    cheers, Pete
