I think the tricky part is constantly needing to switch out branches to keep the images from looking the same.

I have taken pictures a for long time, my college minor was in photography (all film!).

I got bored of chasing the perfect shot, razor sharp from edge to edge. Started doing more hiking, didn't feel like carrying the huge rig to get the huge shots (that everyone one else with their huge rigs were already taking).

I always loved shooting 120 (square) format film though Twin Lens Reflex cameras, but there really not a digital option for this. (I guess all 7 of us who want a digital TLR doesn't really make for a market of customers) And I was not going back to film due to the time and cost.

Saw a few people taking 'Through the Viewfinder (TtV)" shots...adding a tube to the top of an old TLR film camera and shooting down through the viewfinder with a digital camera. Grabbed some of my old TLRs and started messing around with it. Since you are only shooting through one mirror of the viewfinder (not two like a SLR) all the images are flipped.

Over the years I have tried many different TLRs with different viewfinders, lenses and levels of crusty-ness. They all give a different photo, and some work better than others.

Started this technique using my DSLR, but have progressed through a few different mirrorless cameras, currently on a Nikon 1 J5. Need to build a rig for my Fuji X100 S.

At a car show last year many people were approaching me and asking about the rig. Realized that there is a lot of interest, possibly a market for the photos. On the way home, I realized that they were literally 'Dirty Old Pics' and that would be a great name for them. Shockingly, the URL was available! Dirty Old Pics Not doing anything with it yet, but I have it for when the time comes... Enjoy!

That's a neat idea. I have an Argus 75 Twin Lens Reflex that's just sitting around.

    Thanks!

Argus looks pretty good, I find that cameras with a big viewfinder lens work pretty well. I usually unscrew the hood and any related pieces...
