LRP Open AutoX Saturday aug 13

Now that Cruisin' is over...it's time to get cranking on this one

Yes...August 13 is the date...9am-5pm is the time..open to ALL ...Miatas have priority...and we are limited to 40 DRIVERS...yes, you can have multiple drivers in one car. And yes...we will take just about any CAR...no open wheel racecars

this is an AXIS Shootout qualified event...(that is the year end shootout for the top 20 drivers over the course of the year). So get your dancin' shoes on and come out to have a fun filled day exploring just how good these little cars are...not to mention improving your skills

Yes, there will be an instructor from LRP on site during the event to lend tips to anyone that expresses an interest ...or if he sees something that he can help you improve with.

As last year...slight increase due to higher insurance costs...this year will be $140...up 5 from last year

Payment can be made immediately via paypal
..IF IT IS SENT AS A GIFT/FRIENDS & FAMILY

    treasurer@nutmegmiatainc.org

or mail a check to our lovely treasurer...

this will be for all day...dash plaque..trophies...and pizza lunch

    Look here for any updates...additional info..questions...smack talk...whatever

    A little additional info...

no helmet required...no rollbar required...no specific classes..except we will be awarding fastest NA/NB/NC/ND..and OTM...plus top time of the day

    Drinks and cooler..snacks..yes...we do a pizza lunch...included

Just make sure your car has no loose s*%t flying around or falling off...did I mention no tech either?...you are responsible for your ride...and its preparedness

And additional info from the LRP webpage about the freebie year end event for the top 20 qualifiers

Saturday October 29.....the following copied from the LRP webpage....some incentive here?

    Here’s how it works...

At the end of every Autocross Day from April through October, each participant is given the opportunity to lap the Lower Autocross the fastest they can. All the times are recorded (thank you, Spectro Oils, for the zoomy electronic timing system), and at the end of the season, the year's quickest drivers are eligible to enter the AxIS competition, at no charge.

The morning of AxIS is spent with all drivers practicing. After the catered lunch, the Shoot-out begins...

Using the full half-mile autocross track, each driver gets an out lap, five timed “flyers,” then the cool-down lap.

It’s fun to watch and of course, even more fun to do!

When everyone has finished doing their best, the results are tallied as everyone heads to the Infield Chalet for the awards banquet.

After some good food and beverage, we announce the top three drivers of the day, with some nice prizes and trophies for the winners.

Whoever the Autocross Champion is, it’s been well-earned, as he or she has beaten hundreds of other drivers to the title!

Good luck to all 2016 Open Autocross Day competitors!

Here is the link...which also has links to the standings tallied all year

    http://www.limerock.com/index.php?op...690&Itemid=286

But remember...the qualifying time is set on the LOWER LOOP OF THE COURSE ONLY

The top 20 are invited....but sometimes a few of those cannot make it for various reasons...so ...top 25 is a really good place to be.

I qualified in year two...and finished 10th overall...did not make it the past two years...things have gotten super competitive the past couple years...and it is getting harder to make the top 20 in a Miata. In year two there were 7 or 8 Miatas in the Shootout...last year there were two. Three qualified but one Miata driver switched to a FF racecar...and got beat by Quinn in his NB ITB car...Quinn finished second the past two years in that car...beaten only by that darn FF racecar each time.

Our day next weekend will have at least 2 full hours of full course running...

Ok...for those that have never seen the course...

Here is a short video of last years Shootout...couple things....in this video the first shots are during PRACTICE...and Quinn was fooling around in the NB...and for this event they crossed things up and ran the full course in the reverse direction...the next segments were the timed runs...much more tidy

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KSmcErx8Oh4

And here is me at the start of this vid in 2014 at the Shootout....short course only that year for timed runs...and a friend in the same car...

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FsQTp1biseo

Yes..it was damn cold that day...and Quinn took advantage of the top portion of the course to properly warm his tires before tripping the timer for his timed runs...as did most of us

This section is what we will be timed on for year end qualification times

Hopefully you folks on the fence can see just how much fun this course can be...and our event is ALL DAY...with about 2 full hours of full course running after timing on just the lower section

If anyone is on the fence about this, DO IT. It's a great time!

Somehow I am just seing this now for the first time and I already have plans tomorrow but I've done it the past 2 years and am looking forward to doing it again.
