I'm at work in our dispatch center.

For the first time in my 5 years our EOC is activated and there's heads of every agency in Manatee downstairs.

    Bonus: Free lasagna and salad.

May not be allowed to go home though.

It is still making its way up the east coast but so far it has stayed far enough east that we have been sparred catastrophic damage. The southern half of Florida has been pretty much sparred. The northern east coast of Florida is experiencing more of the storm. The coasts of Georgia and South Carolina can still expect a visit from Mathew.

    Hurricane Matthew 2016

I listen to NC NPR via the web, seems the track forecast changed and warnings went back up for more areas in NC.

I was trading nervous/anxious messages with my sister who lives near Orlando. Her first hurricane. I just gave her advice and anecdotes from my times in hurricanes. She and her family are staying, rightfully so, but she knows it's a pretty easy drive to stay with us here in Atlanta. Haven't seen her online since last night, so I'm guessing she's busy and is conserving phone life.

I couldn't explain the rationale to her about people hoarding bread and milk though. ;p

Just so it (the hurricane) does not make a turn around in the Atlantic and make another visit returning here in the coming week. Everyone stay safe!

Looks like people aren't getting hammered just yet, but are you getting hammered? Hurricane party?

Red wine is my libation of choice for hurricanes. It does not need to be chilled which is great if the power goes out.
