It’s a beautiful Sunday here and I think your post is getting me motivated to turn off the TV, head to the garage and crank up some tunes for somw wrench turning as well!

Met some friends to look at a Miata for mutual friend in MI. He wants to buy an NB for his son, we convinced him the values were much better here in Atlanta.

Found this cream pull locally, ‘00, PEP, 84k miles, one owner, female.

Needs a TB/WP refresh, but a really clean survivor. $3500. Gave a deposit, picking it up for him and storing it until he can drive it back up north.

    I did a thing.

Annnnnnnnnd, I got bored after writing the last post, fired up my jams and started roughing this out. An hour later:

Just need to punch out some holes to pass existing bolts through.

Just used a Sharpie, box cutter, scissors and a drill. The flashlight pic is showing me how to trace (roughly) the front curve to tuck the lower panel under the front bumper.

Buy a radiator, get a free radiator cooling panel! I have another sheet left over if I want/need to make a cleaner version from the original.

Decided to make a one piece cooler panel, a little cleaner, adjusted from the original. I made a few cardboard iterations from the original, perhaps this will be more effective.

I will cut the plastic soon.

    One piece version done.

    Aluminum tape is hinge insurance.

    I did a thing.

A little closer to the deadline, a little close to finishing.

Got up early to have the Contis mounted and balanced. Yay! More suspension travel and no more rubbing from the previous 225/50-15s.

Also, finally picked up the MSM 14mm rear sway bar. Wrong bushings, but I ordered those today.

    This looks mounted correctly, right?

I am also happy to report the DIY radiator panel is effective. I am noticing cooler temps driving around town.

    The RSB bushings arrived! Giddyup!

Here’s difference between the OE NB RSB diameter and the MSM RSB:

Got the parts together, bushings, brackets, end links, sway:

I initially had the RSB upside down, after flipping it over it went pretty smooth:

I followed the guidelines for adjusting the endlinks via Emilio’s video. Everything took me about an hour-ish.

    One more item down!

    I did a thing.

Picked up a car from the paint shop for a friend away on vacation. Battery was dead. A little switcheroo with the one from my NB got it to my place.

The alternator light stayed on, but after some anxiety about making it home before the battery drained, I pulled down my box o’ spares I recently sorted from my NA.

I had *almost* thrown out my spare alternator a week or so ago. I removed this from my NA when I rebuilt the engine, just because. I know it works fine, so I swapped in in for him.

    Yeah, his was garbage. :/

Not bad for a free car, though (no, seriously, he got it for free).

I’ll swap in a good battery and get it to R Speed over the weekend. He intends to track it this following weekend.

    I did a thing.

Welp, I took the afternoon off to wrap up the important items left on the maintenance; clutch hydraulics and undertray.

I postponed the fuel filter for now because my car flashed a p0455 code, related to emissions (evap). I wanted to wait to see if it came back and attack the evap electronics near the rear canister and do the fuel filter at the same time. Not too concerned about it right now.

Earlier this week, I test fit my race seat and mount. I got it to work, but I still have not mounted the lap and sub belt points, but might get to it tomorrow.

    Anyways...

I got the clutch hydraulics apart with no fuss, another benefit to having a car that has not seen a hard winter.

So much orange! Speaking of orange, my partially orange dog didn’t care that I was working on the car.

I was left with a collection of OE clutch hydraulics.

My wife worked from home, so when she had a 10 minute break, we bled the system. All is well!

I installed the new (used) under tray to maximize the cooling system’s efficiency.

Fresh clutch master sitting clean and pretty.

So, after wrapping up, I was inspecting the parts I removed. I found the clutch master was definitely heading south. This is why I do this system complete like this.

That could have ended my track day early this week. I’m glad I replaced it beforehand.
