No more Dunlop Direzza 14" sizes?

I was fortunate, when one of my BFGoodrich GForce Super Sports got a sidewall bubble this summer, that I was able to find a NOS replacement in 185/60R14. Those tires only have a couple thousand miles on them, and I would have hated to have them mismatched.

Now, I looked just for curiosity, and I don't see any 14" Dunlops available for summer tires...

Are Falken Azenis the only remaining performance option for 14" wheel folks?

    -Matt

We don't even get them over here in our Kingdom, the best we get for 14's is R888R's, which are noisy as hell on our roads. The Dunlop BluResponse look promising though. Most probably a close replacement, other than not being semi-slicks.
You want a good car. I want a good miata.

Direzza ZIII are scheduled to come out in the next few months. A rep from TireRack informed me that they will have the 185/60-14 available.

In the meantime, the same rep told me they will have one last batch of the Direzza ZII for sale mid February.

    Keep an eye out.

I have a brand-new set of ZII's here on brand new 14x7 RPF1's I bought this fall for the '94R. I was going to be a bit upset with my decision to buy the wheels in 14" if there weren't any tires available besides Chinese economy and winter-treads.

I suspect we'd see a major price reduction in 14" RPF1's if no quality tires were available...

    Thanks, -Matt

Don't worry. 14 is the correct size to go with. Much better looking than 15's.

Currently yes, the Direzza ziii (vs current zii) is in japan and tire rack says they will have the ziii this summer. They didn't specifcally say if they will have the 185/60 14. That size is listed on a japanese web site, so maybe....

Sorry, i didnt see the other responses before posting this...

Also more than 3lbs per corner lighter... and I like having more sidewall, too!

    +1!!

Unsprung weight matters more than people realise, especially on cr*p roads. Currently running 14x7 RPF1's myself worth every penny.

I am on the hunt for the 14x6 BBS wheels that came on the earlier models though, at 9lbs~ per corner WITH an offset to take FM's Little Big Brake Kit, I might just hand the RPF1's up for good...

There are times I consider swapping my '92 NA BBS wheels for something else, but then I look at them and think I'd be crazy to do so. The older these cars get, the more I like how those wheels look. The only other wheels out there that are lighter seem to be on every other car, which sort of ruins their uniqueness. When I bought my '92 NA back in '96, NAs were everywhere. Other than the web, today I don't see them on the streets quite as often as I used to, and I never see any on the road with the stock BBS wheels (probably because so many people like to swap for aftermarket rims. I'm glad I kept mine).

I see a lot around where I live. Most are rust-buckets or souped up rice machines that get beat on until they either die or get crashed; most get written off.

They're solid little cars that take well to boost and are cheap to beat on.

In another 10 years they'll be full blown classics and near impossible to get ahold of. I'm fine with that, mine isn't being crashed.

I suspect it'll take another several decades to really make them classics. Still, as they get worn, crushed, and destoyed, we'll see less of them. Mine is garaged here in SoCal and is only driven for fun a couple weekends per month, so I don't plan to let it fall apart. It needs some cosmetic work from its days as a daily driver, but it's mechanically solid with no rust and runs as good as the day I bought it 20 yrs ago. I plan to keep fixing it up as much as funds allow.

Ohh mah god. They're even on time. The proposal was May where I saw it... and it's February. Talk about delivering on promise.

Left Over ZII, a few bucks cheaper than the new ZIII
