    Door alignment help

My drivers door isn’t closing tight enough. I can see it sticks out beyond the rear quarter at the bottom. Looking at the shot lines, you can see it:

I can hear an air leak from this area at speed. The weatherstrip looks ok. I have tried adjusting the latch catch loop on the jamb, the rubber bushing at the bottom (even tried removing it), with little or no change.

I can push the door in a few millimeters after closing. The door “bobbles” when a shut it, like it’s stopping short of where it should land.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience correcting this?

    Thanks for reading!

I tried an old, cheap trick to alleviate the wind noise, or at least test the weatherstripping’s effectiveness along the perimeter of the door at the jamb.

I grabbed a few drinking straws at a restaurant and slid them into the weatherstripping. They add some volume and shape. Surprisingly, it worked! I didn’t fill the entire channel, so the section without was where the wind noise moved to.

I'd say a reputable body guy or body shop could fix it, may not even charge you.

How about the door cups? Maybe try moving it inwards a little?

I asked a friend and he said sometimes you can flip the striker plate and that might help.

Possibly the door bushings?? (epsecially if they're the original oem ones)

I found I had to tweak the positioning of the Delrin ones I installed...

    Food for thought.

I considered that. I was wondering if there wasn't enough tension on the door latch, or perhaps the latch itself is worn, where the door isn't closing as tight as it used to.

Also seems like this came up before and someone shimmed one of the hinges, or the hinge pin was worn?

I had already planned to take off the fender to see if the hinges could help, just looking for experience. Probably wind up as another post on the build thread.
