    Hardtop Solo R&R with Brackets

I have a pulley system in the garage so I can R&R my top solo. It stays up and out of the way, it cannot get damaged and it's not eating up any floor space...I don't have any floor space to waste.

I went with brackets and security screws so it's not a matter of popping on the OEM clamps and being done with it...it does require a few minutes to get everything lined up and snugged down. I found a ratcheting tie-down strap quite helpful. It runs from one door latch across the top, just above the rear window and then to the opposite door latch. This allows me to pull the top down tight and also push it forward so the FBolts are snug and the windshield brackets and side brackets can all be snugged down tight, and it can all be done solo.

I like the straps idea when reattaching the hardtop. I use a Deer Hoist I picked up from Walmart for cheap. Works great too.

Neat idea, but I would be so damn afraid of damaging the paint.

Clever. There have been a few times recently I wanted to remove mine and just enjoy the weather, but I didn't want to bother my wife.

The strap I'm using is a woven nylon, similar to backpacking webbing...very soft contact so as long as the paint is clean, it should not be damaged at all.

That's why I set mine up to work solo. When the top needs to come off, it needs to come off! The added bonus is floor space. I went to Home Depot and bought the parts I needed and set it up the same day. I use paracord for the actual sling. Bicycle lifts work too.

I had one. It is a little clunky.

I will probably pick one up in a few months, interested in a review also.

My friend and I built one for his top using ballistic nylon webbing, book bag style snap fasteners, D-rings, pulley and rope. It has held up for years.

I have read mixed reviews online. Felt the price was a bit much for something that was only ok.
