    A Modest Rant.

I was installing the downstream O2 sensor on my 1996 when I happened to glance at the flipped up bulkhead carpet.
It has no jute backing. Nope. None.
Instead it has the loop pile NA tan carpet glued to it!! WTF!?! (compare it to the fancy shag in background).
The better looking 1990-1995.5 loop carpet being used as a sound deadener. WTF again!?!?
The loop carpet that almost everyone prefers over the bland looking shag/cut pile used because Mazda saved some Yens.
The loop pile carpet that upgrades the interior in a retro way!
The loop pile that makes the interior of any black or tan NA just look better!
The loop pile carpet that is very hard to find any more (in tan anyway).
Goodness knows if Mazda will re-produce it or not!

    Old cars can hold surprises.
I really like the loop pile carpet, too.

Rolling on from the header and rear of the roadster, I put in the Racing Beat front sway bar and end links, a Racing Beat cruise control re-locator, Mazdaspeed air box, Fab9 COPS, FIAMM Freeway Blaster, M2 1001 front strut bar, and a new stock radiator diversion panel and clips.

The COPS were plug 'n play, as was the horn. The cops replaced the defective factory coil hopefully for the better. The horn was seen here on Phat’s build. It is cheap and super loud and highly recommended. Moving the cruise control did its job of opening up the engine bay for the intake. The new location looks factory with the supplied zinc plated bracket which is able to be manipulated to fit a bit better near the intake. Making things look like they came from the factory has been a personal goal. I modded one of the original cruise control brackets to fit the cops coil behind the cam cover like the original was. I mounted the coil on the bracket with some thermal paste so as to act as a heat sink for it. The polished cam cover, Nielex M2 style oil cap, RB header and the M2 strut bar bling the rest of the engine bay into a state of dirtiness, so I am going to have to clean it up some more.
