2,000 rpm - light wheelspin, no bog here!
HMT's first car: 1994 Mazda Lantis (basically a 5door Protege Coupe) - Project.L
Hi Roadsterfans,
I'd like to show you my other other car, which also happens to be my first car which I have since 2001:

It started out in life as a poverty spec EU model 323F and I basically got it as a doing good in school present in my last year of high school.
It had a 1.5l DOHC engine, almost no extras and a modest ~20k miles on the clock. This car taught me to work on cars, to drive cars swiftly, to maintain and modify cars and got me in touch with car culture and many nice people.
Which is basically why I refused to ever let it go. After many years of daily duty, I am now lucky enough to keep it as a piece of nostalgia and personal history.
It went through different phases of style and trim, countless sets of wheels and spec upgrades, 4 interiours, 2 engines and unfortunately is now in need of a third which is why it is off the streets for now until the issue is sorted. Which it will be. Eventually. The aim is to get it registered as a historic vehicle in germany to avoind any potential issues with driving bans and stupid stuff like that as soon as it turns 30. Fow now, it's hibernating in the underground car park.
Current spec:

6,000 rpm - mere mortals would shift
Thanks for these posts Chris! We also got a bunch of these here as 323Fs as well; massively underappreciated car IMO. And yours looks really cool aswell!

Thanks, happy you like it.
In the meantime, I got a replacement engine for it. I considered rebuilding the one I have but it just would have been a lot more expensive. And as a club member sold his built BP05 to go turbo in his BG, I managed to get it at a fair price.
It features 84mm Supertech 11:1 pistons, exhintake cams, new seals and bearings and a bunch of new OEM parts. Should be okay for getting the car up and running again. I might still add FI later down the line.
One Saturday, I went with the train to eastern Germany to meet a mate with his Wagon to go there and get it. It was a nice day out and good to see old friends again. Here it is when we collected it:

And safely made it back home

I was excited, so I got a spare intake manifold to modify, a Skunk2 TB and a Exedy Stage1 clutch:

Also, last summer, I bought a donor car as my drivers seat was a bit worn. So I replaced the whole leather seats as the texture was a bit different on both sets...

Man, that was fun. To drive the car again after all that time, even if it was just a short distance and the engine was smoking like crazy...just felt like coming home
Good things shall happen with it this year!
