    CollinMB's Street ND

Porting thread from ClubRoadster now that it's basically dead.

2016 MX-5 Club Ceramic Metallic Manual
    CB3 Fab Removable Hardtop

The plan with this build given the fact it's my daily driver is my version of the ultimate street Miata. My approach to modifications are form & function. The ethos of my choices center around keeping the design clean and avoiding anything that will detract from daily drive-ability.

I am also working on turning the car into a coupe by fabricating a removable hardtop (see thread link below)

Wow I didn't know you had gotten a fastback! Ya they broke CR big time with that new format, it frustrates me so much I don't browse or really participate now beyond updating my build thread. Glad you started one here!

Yeah, it was not going so well on CR even before the format change. It seems like most people are either switching to here and M.Net or just abandoning forum all together.

Also, I didn't GET a fastback, I'm MAKING a fastback. I'll drop some updates on this thread about it here and there.

    Small cosmetic update:

Been eyeing up the Flyin' Miata LED corner lights and turn signals for a while.
    icRFfHJh.jpg

Installation was pretty straightforward since I had done the JDM side markers previously. I love how bright these are, especially with the clueless LA drivers out here:

    sBGSiMgh.jpg

I'll be posting up the JDM markers for sale soon. One more update I'm still waiting on is finally on it's way. Something I ordered on Black Friday. After that I have one more interior upgrade planned before throwing all of my concentration at the hardtop. I'm also on the hunt for a "shop" truck, so keep an eye out for a future thread on that.

    Other long order arrived:
    QqoAd6Eh.jpg
    Raceseng Prolix Custom Powdercoat Yellow

I actually ordered this shift knob back on Black Friday. Apparently their powdercoater had an issue and had to shut down for an extended time. Install was pretty standard:

This shift knob is HEAVY at 1.5 pounds. The shifts feel buttery smooth with this thing.

Roofline looks fantastic; even better than the RF if I may say so. I would prefer a "recessed" trunk, Alterna-style, like the CarbonMiata one, but that's just me. Plan to use glass from an existing car?

I kept the stock trunk line to allow for whichever spoiler buyers want

The quarter windows are based on 370Z windows. The rear I had no luck finding anything that would work

BTW, this pic has plexi windows installed

Haven't done an update in quite some time as I've been pushing to get the hardtop finished after getting the truck back up and running. Here's the hardtop at it's close to final iteration:

There is some final shaping that will be done by the company I'm farming the top out to to get finished, molds, and produce the top. It will be on sale some time early to mid next year. It took a bit of extra time to coordinate with Blackbird Fabworx to make sure their GT3 bar fits, but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.

Other than that, I have been slowly gathering items for my interior makeover. I'll be getting my car back in a few weeks and start working on swapping all that stuff. I'll post an update when everything is together.

Damn, long time no update. Any who the hardtop looks like this now:

My interior looks like this now:

and these just arrived in the mail:

The install is going to have to wait a bit as I'll be dropping my car back off at the fab shop to get the final bits finished for the hardtop. Molds will start to get made very soon and shortly after that, full production.

Can't wait to hear some details on the Ohlin install and drive impressions. Would love to lose some of that factory gap on mine

Damn, I'm really bad at keeping this thread up to date. My buddy and I started a YouTube channel. Most progress is going to be on there:
