    Pro's and Cons for a 99 1.8

Hello Miata Fam. I have had a 79 Miata for a number of years now. Even done a bit of work on that old 1.8 with my son. The head is decked, the HLA's have been swapped for solid lifters, stiffer valve springs for the Toda racing cams (156ms / 9mm) and Fidanza adjustable cam gears. Sadly I blew this motor something bad a few years ago and I think it's about time I put it back on the road. Problem I'm running in to is that all the 94 - 97 1.8's are sold out. What challenges would I be facing if I opted for one of the available 99 1.8's. I'm sure this question has come up before but after an hour of looking for a thread like this I have failed miserably in finding. I yall could point me in the direction of that thread or already have the answer and are willing to type it out for me, I would greatly appreciate it.*f'k Thank you

99-00 head has mechanical lifters and better flowing ports. I believe the header and the intake manifold are not a direct fit for that reason. 99-00 is also using crank/cam sensors instead of the NA CAS, but I believe the latter one can be used by splicing on your current wiring. Alternatively, you could use the CAS with the 99-00 head. All taken into account, I would go for the 99-00.

Revlimiter put a '99 1.8 into his '95 OBDI if I recall. Check his build thread and blog.

TB, fuel rail, alternator, coilpacks, CAS(?) onto the ‘99 engine. Stock NA ECU. RPM switch for VICS or just zip tie open.
