    Talking SuperMiata Tecna coilovers, finally!

    After nearly 10yrs(iirc) in the making, SuperMiata's "budget/daily/comfort" coilovers, Tecna, is finally going to be available soon! From another forum:

    -Tecnas will only be offered with 6/4kg springs, high rate helpers and our NB mounts, fully assembled. No spring rate or mount options.

    These are going to be a 'game changer', IMHO, and looking forward to hearing people's feedback on them. Who here is getting a set? Unfortunately my setup demands Xida Race(or similar spec'd) coilovers, otherwise I'd be all over them.

    $1350 seems steep for oem weight/steel body shocks, but who knows, maybe these will be perfectly balanced for fun street use unlike most options and being supermiat should be quality. I recall being able to get meisters for 600usd a set or so, now it's.. double that. that's a whole lot of inflation in the last 6 years.

    Sounds like you're talking about the Sportive(currently $695 here) which is non adjustable for one and undoubtedly won't hold its own to the Tecna nor should it as its considered their entry level coilover.

    I'd say the majority of people that come on the forums usually has a budget of $1k+/- in mind for coilovers so the price would be a bit of a stretch but so many "enthusiasts" won't think twice about spending twice that on wheels or a "wide body kit" yet think spending that on one of the most important aspects(suspension) of the car isn't necessary which is highly flawed thinking, imo.

    SuperMiata said from the beginning(10yrs ago) that the target was around $900-$1k(ATM that was about half the cost of Xida Race) so for the fact that they will be around $1300 a decade after they started the project tells me that they tried to stick to that as closely as possible w/o sacrificing anything where it matters and that still puts them very close to half the cost of Xida Race.

    I know MeisterR is well regarded in Europe but you simply can't fairly compare a one piece design shock developed by one of the best miata specific shops in the world specifically designed for the Miata to a two piece design shock made by a run of the mill coilover company.

    Xida Race are the best OTS coilover for a reason and that reason is first hand knowledge and experience. Tecna will be no different, imo, but you get what you pay for.

    As explained in the video, the reason for the body material was cost, to keep it down. I won't bother to try and explain beyond that because it's all well covered in the video and if it wasn't, as mentioned several other videos will be coming out.

    I meant the CRD, the adjustable bottom end ones. the Sportivo came after the CRD, afaict.

    Its happening?! Finally? Too bad I don't have stocker to put them on anymore. I wont believe it until a customer has a set.

    I am not sure this is happening. They have teased them again a year (?) ago, but still no ETA as far as I am aware. I am about to pull the trigger on a set of custom-spec ASTs instead

    IIRC, they said they will start taking orders next month. I'd email them before ordering the ASTs if your interested in the Tecna's.

    We shelved the project late 2013. When we began working on it again in 2019, the targets had changed. From the original degassed, non adjustable twin tube to a high pressure nitrogen charged, internal floating piston, adjustable monotube. 4 years after starting, we have production samples that are what we want. Going into production soon. Check the website for deets.
