I'm a big fan of David Woolery's car. Love the slightly bluer green it's finished in now (and just about everything else about it).

Red interior cars appear to be unobtainium here, so I have been mulling over the idea of using a BRG/tan (called Neo Green in Australia) or a black/tan, as a base for my new build.

What do you folks think tan trim would look like in the yellow car?

Yellow and tan? Hmmmmmmmm, that's a tough one. Tan Miata interiors are so light. I think it may look washed out. A saddle brown interior would look nice. Or a cinnamon color.

I tried to tone down the '91 SE interior (too much tan) with black floor mats, '96 door cards (black tops), and black door handles.

I really don't like yellow & tan (yes, I know this is a different yellow, different tan, and an NB)

    And a totally different car:

I don't think Tan would suit your Yellow Malibu Q. I'd go for something like black (leather) 'n maybe some highlights (some chrome? some bling?)

Not a fan of yellow and tan either. In my opinion, yellow looks best with a dark contrasting interior.

Mmm, maybe a dark tan/brownish color would look nice. Like a saddle brown maybe? A few black accents... or maybe the other way around. Black interior and a few saddle brown accents.

It has a bit of damage where it was removed from the black car, which will have to be repaired on a car, otherwise it could become twisted.
I am unwilling to risk damage to the vintage paintwork on the Malibu whilst repairing it, so I'm storing it for now.
In my opinion the Pit Crew Racing bumper doesn't suit yellow cars as well as darker colours. Here is a couple of pictures of possibly the only yellow one.

The plan is, to obtain another NA to install the Pit Crew Racing bumper. I am advertising in Australia, attempting to buy a red interior Eunos Roadster S-Limited or R-Limited, but with no success so far. I am also scouring the net looking for red interior parts. When I complete my red interior, I will then start a Pit Crew build.

Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to receive other Roadster enthusiasts opinions, whether positive or negative. Honesty is the best policy.

    Cheers.

That went down like a lead balloon.
Thanks for calling it as you see it.

Now that I'm slowly but surely getting my red interior together, I'm just musing over what Mx-5 to buy for my Pit Crew project.
About 90% of NA's here have the black interior and the remaining cars have tan.
I already have a tidy black interior in the Malibu so if I got a car with the tan, I would have the complete set of the NA interior colors.
One interior will be spare at the end of this.
I was thinking that having a tan one in stock would give me options for the future.
Obviously mileage and condition are the main concerns purchasing any used car and my next NA must be manual and have AC, but excepting trim color, I can't think what other features I should be prioritise as I choose another NA.

Love MOONEYES as I'm into 50s/60s custom cars too, and have quite a few Moon knick-knacks around.
Moon is a theme that fits easily with my Malibu and what I was thinking about when I painted the stripes on it.
It has a Moon folding sunshade inside and I only removed the Moon decal from the rear window when the Moon steelies were installed .
Started to not want it to look so much like a Moon demo car, and recent changes have been designed to move away from the Moon theme a bit.
Here it is in 2008 sporting a Moon decal on the back window.

Nice one on the pitcrew. Like your yellow car and somehow missed you have a pitcrew front end. Very nice. You are thinking of going a similar route to what I have done as mine will be a black pitcrew s limited. Personally if you dan to find a good black roadster I'd buy a nice white version, put the red interior in that and do a classic old English white exterior.

I was thinking of your car when I saw a yellow convertible 'Cuda with a white interior. I think the combo works and would definitely be something you wouldn't see on another Miata.

Then again, I don't know if you want to be the Aussie Don Johnson of Miatas.

And maybe cruise control and a Torsen diff prioritized as well? Neither are needed, but they are nice to have.

Just googled Don Johnson Cuda. I haven't seen that TV show but the Cuda looks beautiful. I<3 white interiors. They just don't like me. I wear blue jeans a lot which stain white seats.
Thinking about that sort of thing, I looked long and hard at pics of the M2-1002 drooling over the pale cream. However, I think that this interior is all leather coated and that Mazda didn't mould any cream parts for it. Anybody know better?

I'd like cruise control a lot. Lots of speed cameras here. Australian Mx-5's are usually only one or two specs only with limited options available. I haven't seen cars advertised with cruise locally, but if one has it, I'll look more favorably toward it. On any day there is about seventy or eighty NAs available in Australia, with only about five on the island of Tasmania. Travelling to mainland Australia is easy enough by air. Transporting cars back takes overnight on the ferry, it's expensive and it sucks riding the ferry (but it's probably what I'll do).

You're right. Nakamae seats are gorgeous. However I don't plan on doing much to the Malibu modifications wise at the moment. It's about to get a timing belt, replace cooling system etc. and I'm focussing on collecting the parts for my Pit Crew build. And I want to get my Chevy finished...

Probably right. The M2-1002 was intended to be a run of 300 cars but due to the economy and maybe the car itself for the time, there were only about 100 cars produced. The left over interior parts were held as either spares, sold off via the M2 shop, or incorporated into the Tokyo Limited. The Tokyo Limited was a special order from a Tokyo Eunos dealership. I know a few of these cars have made their way to the UK which is where I've been able to pick up bits and pieces of information.

That white interior will get dirty just looking at it, stay away!!

I had some white Mazdaspeed Sport Seats and I was OCD about keeping them clean, ended up selling them because they stressed me out too bad.

Go with black interior, full Nakamae style!!

I like the fact you're not getting angry at our replies about the tan (cos you asked us)... I could imagine you having this idea, and 'just asking for fun' and getting burned down with comments why it wouldn't fit and therefore become angry because your 'dream' just went up in smoke. Just like the pitnose thing!
