The grey car as you see it here is just at a transition phase. Bought this car to build a PitCrew out of it and that's still my plan. I think the colour combination looks like it's 1960's which I think will be period correct for the PitCrew styling.

91BRG, here's the engine bay. I had to get a pic today as I hadn't bothered before. Been a bit slack under the bonnet. I haven't installed the finned cam cover yet, as it has no mounts for the coilpack and there is a breather in that location instead. I haven't worked out how to get around that problem yet. But I decided to leave the engine until I had got some of the bodywork done and installed the interior. I plan to have a look at it soon. As you can see the radiator is brown. But it's worse inside. The PO mustn't have changed the coolant until just before he sold it to me. When I first looked at the car the coolant was nice and green. By the time I had got home it was horrible. So I need to flush the cooling system, new radiator, thermostat, etc.. Also I want to flush the lifters and change the cambelt parts. I'm going to fit the cam cover then. Maybe a couple of months away. I want to take a break off working on the car every weekend, which is what I've been doing lately.

Had the PCR front for quite a while now and have been wanting to use it. I remember an early plan was to use a Simpson shorty rear bar, the GV tails and the Alterna trunk, modified to look like a hundred one race trunk. When Simpson discontinued there accesories line, I changed plan and decided to build a complete PCR Roadster. I asked my importer to obtain me one in Jan 2015. Four months to get confirmation, four months for PCR to build it and three months to ship to Australia. Learned in late December that the PCR rear had arrived in Melbourne. I replied to the importer "Excellent! Ship it now."
On hearing the news I almost immediatly started on installing the front. I was certain that I would have the car done before NatMeet.
The stock headlights and headlight motors were removed. I left the headlight lids and laid the front over them. Pitcrew parts are excellent quality and I had no problem with fit. The four metal rods under the front fenders need their ends bent to new angles and the plastic under shields require alterations. This pic shows the altered shields. The vertical 'ears' facing forward are homemade and riveted to the remains of the original front shield.

The install of the front was done by late Jan 2016. First drive:

Looks great already! I would LOVE to do a full Pit Crew Racing conversion but alas i doubt it will ever happen so i will have to settle for living vicariously thru fantastic builds, such as yours and James, with the PCR conversion.

Glad you're enjoying the build. Posted the PCR rear because I know I would have loved to have known what's in the box before I opened it. If anyones thinking of ordering, the box size is 1700 x 1500 x 420mm.

Oh man, so much goodness in one thread! The Pit Crew front is growing on me.

I really liked what you have done with your Garage Vary rear panel, slimming it up to suit your rear plates, its perfect with the swage line carried on.

Well done. It looks great. I think after you fit the pitcrew rear you will join fairly exclusive company as I'm unaware of many that have built a full pitcrew outside of Japan apart from either you or me.

Don't have any major plans to change much inside at the moment. The last thing I did was finish the RevLimiter vent rings. My next door neighbor machined those rings down in his lathe to fit the Nielex tombstone. Spent the night before the NatMeet XII show in my hotel bathroom wetsanding and polishing them. Beautiful.

I would like a chrome shifter knob and have been looking at a weighted Zoom one. Thinking about painting the inside of the Mazdaspeed hardtop in a grey similar to the carpet mats. It would lighten the interior a bit.
Here's the hardtop on the Malibu.

Thanks. Exclusive company for sure. You've done a brilliant job on your build. I'm not building it to be first or anything like that. I have always thought that the PitCrew was beautiful. A thought reinforced by having the front done.

Thanks. It worked well with the standard Australian size plate. I havent got it quite right with the slimline plate. It should sit higher but it sits low to hide the license panel attachment screws.
One of the things I am doing is plotting how to get the best possible install of the PCR rear. I will get a fibreglass trunk for the extention to better bond to. I have also been thinking how to make it work with the slimline plates. Here's an idea I've been playing with in PaintShop. Thoughts anyone?

Yes, I still have both cars. The yellow car has been in storage for three years or so. This pic on 13s was taken just before I put it away. Hoping to get it back out next year.

I see I haven't posted any pics of the completed PitCrew here, so here's a few. I used a CarbonMiata fiberglass trunk, modified with the PitCrew extension. Trunk release is from a DW Demio/Metro which central locks with the car, and the gas cap is a reshaped stock steel one. Also the frankenstein bolts have been covered over with fiberglass panels for a smoother look.

Planning on getting some new lighter wheels for the PitCrew soon. I like the retro style of the 14" Watanabe eight spokes, but I'm unsure of which colour to order, so I'm looking around for inspiration.
