What is my camera gear worth?

Let me preface this by saying I want to sell my camera on craigslist to buy a nikon d90 primarily due to the focus motor. I want to know what my current set up is worth so I can gauge how much out of pocket I need to be.

    My current setup is a nikon d50, 18-55 lens, 55-200, and 70-300. I also have a sb-600 speed light.
I might want to hold on to my speed light.

I have been meaning to get a 50mm 1.8 lens for my camera and stumbled upon this on craigslist. I figured I am better off selling my current set up buying this setup.

Is it accurate to ballpark my camera with 3 lenses at around $250? Is that setup I linked seem to be abnormally low for $500 or about average.

Save your lenses. You'll enjoy them on the D90.

As for the D50, it's not really worth much. It's better to keep it as a spare body and save up. They're extremely useful for IR photography, but... not much else. It's a very old body.

The 18-55 is super cheap. They only sell for around $50-75.
The 70-300 is also super cheap. $100 max. But it's a hell of a cheap lens. I have one and still use it often.
    Definitely keep the SB600.

That's a decent craigslist find by the way. The 18-105 still goes for a lot used. Sell the SB400 for $100ish and you've got an awesome $400 upgrade.

I figured. My plan was to sell the d50 with the 18-55 and 55-200 lens. Maybe Get $250 isn probably closer to $200 and just couch up the rest.

The d50 is rather limited and it can not use sdhc cards which are everywhere. Last matg I left my memory card at home and could not pick up a replacement anywhere because that technology is no longer produced.

I also planned on selling the sd400 as well. What I really wanted was the d90 and the 50mm lens. The 18-105 is a nice bonus and enough of a reason to get rid of both my 18-55 and 55-200.

First I need to sell some things and then see if the d90 is still available.

The 55-200 is actually a decent lens. A super-budget portrait lens if you will. I'm serious.

If it means anything rev. None of my lenses have vr and my 70-300 nikon lens does not have a focus motor.

    Yup. That's what I figured.

Really, that 55-200 is a decent portrait lens. And it focuses a bit faster than the 70-300. I'd keep both of them.

Not to thread jack, but I plan on selling my D5000 and upgrading to a 7100.

I have a 55-200 and 18-55 that I rarely use. The 7100 comes with an 18-200 that is pretty fast and would be nice zoom lens when the situation calls for it.

The question is how much do you think I'd get for my 5000 and both lenses? The guys at the camera store said it was in excellent condition if that helps.

Is the 18-200 the VRII? That lens is wonderful--you'll almost never need to remove it. I have the FX version for my D700, the 28-300, which covers the same effective focal lengths, and love it. I can get hand-held shots as slow as 1/4" with it!

Yeah it's the VRII. It is a fantastic lens and I can find all kinds of uses for it.

I wish I could get my hands on a 18-200 but I have other things that I need to spend my money on.

Also with the my planned swap I am doing I figured the 18-105 would be good enough.

Soooo how much do y'all think my current gear is worth? I plan on selling my old camera bag with it. I'm thinking staring at $500 obo for the whole shebang.

As I'm in Japan it's hard for me to say. Here's a link to a used-camera gear shop here, though to get a sense of common asking prices: http://www.net-chuko.com/

$500 is not a bad offer for that set up. If you post it up on Craigslist I would ask for $550 with anticipations that you will probably get $450. Anything more than that is gravy.
