    I guess it's time for an update.....

    Colour codes
    Done
    Upcoming

    Handling/Drivetrain

    Control arms with new bushings
    Swap to LSD
    ABS
    New Coilovers (Ohlins)
    FM swaybars
    6UL's in 15x8

    New Clutch - FM Happy meal

    Engine bay
    NoPro washer fluid bottle
    Radiator - IL 42mm
    Fan - Removed IL fan shroud and the second fan.
    Master Cylinder Bracket
    Renew head fix valves and valve seatings. Changed all gaskets

    Coolant reroute
    Laminova oil cooler
    Oil Catch Can
    New ECU

    Interior'ish

    Opeel speedster seats
    Rollbar GC2 fra GCFabrication
    Mazdaspeed short shift
    Garagestar shifter extender
    JDM Roadster mat

    New steering wheel with air bag - Right now the plan is to go for an NB wheel.
    Bucket seat - I want a bucket set that will be fastened using adjustable pci mounts.

    LSD - I bought an used LSD from YJ, assumed it was a 3.909 but seems like it was a 4.3. It was a surprise but it's fine with my oem engine.
    ABS - Have actually not verified that it works, yet.

    Passed the MOT with flying colours. I think the reason was that I got the exhaust improved with better fitment that made it easier to get it

    This is how I confirm differential gearing:

    • Raise the rear of the car off the ground onto jackstands. Chock the front wheels.
    • Leave the car in neutral, hand brake off.
    • Mark the driveshaft visibly along it's axis, about 3-4cm long
    • Line up the mark on the driveshaft so it it pointing straight down. You can do that by spinning one of the rear wheels.
    • When in position, make a line across the tread of one of the rear tires that lines up with something so you accurately determine when that line has completed a revolution.
    • Place your phone camera on the ground pointing straight up at the mark on the driveshaft.
    • Press "record"
    • Spin the wheel with the line across it's tread 10 times, counting off audibly each time the line makes a complete revolution.
    • Stop recording after 10 wheel revolutions are made.

    Watch the video. Count off the number of times the mark on the driveshaft makes a revolution. After 10 revolutions of the wheel, the driveshaft will make this many revolutions according to the factory differential gearsets:

    (drive shaft revolutions = differential gear ratio)
    36 = 3.6
    39 = 3.9
    41 = 4.1
    43= 4.3
    47 = 4.7

    The first and last of the numbers above are rare, but possible. Good luck!

    Nice write up.
    I will try it next time the car are up on jack stands.

    I "verified" it measuring the speed on a given rpm and checked against the gearing calculator at FM.
    I also measured the speed using the gps on my phone.

    My way is full of possible sources of errors, yours are not.

    4.3 torsen is especially rare. You won't find a 4.7 unless someone did something with a kia

    The 3.6 and 4.7 gear sets are rare. The 3.6 was an option in the Asian and Australian markets. The 4.3 and 3.9 Torsens are common to the NBs here in the US. The 4.3 is a nice daily driver and track gear set. It makes these cars a little punchier from a stop and out of corners. They cruise on the freeways here around 4100 rpms at 80 mph with the 5 speed transmissions.

    Sounds about the same as the 2000 rpm at 60 km/h I experience. That is with 205/50-15.

    The gear set in my B-Spec I was told is a 4.88, a prototype diff that was supposed to be sold for Motorsport but idea scrapped so from what the owner had told me he said there are less than 10 known to exist.

    I am at almost 5k at 80 MPH LOL.
