Another thing to consider is that q 285/30/18 is smaller in diameter then most 17s. :/

I go through this all the time in my head. I want 17x9s eventually. And maybe a wide body. Because they will have to go out further to not hit the cars body

I know this thread is old af and forums aren't as popular anymore, but still this might be good for reference.

If you're looking for cheap and wide 17's that aren't garbage reps look no further than the 2 Piece RH and Artec wheels.
They start out at an insanely high offset of 60 on a 17x8 wheel and can be spaced out and relipped (cheaply) for any size you could need on an mx5.

Here's one of my cars on a set of 17x9 RH ZW1's with 25mm spacers which would make the effective offset about 22.

I've now found a set of less common (but still cheap) Stahl S3 wheels, that uses the same lips and sizing as the RH's.
They have a bit more of a bbs RC look going on with convex Y spokes, for those who don't like the porsche style fat convex 5 spoke.

Here we are with 17x10 4x100 and Yokohama AO52 245/40/17 in testing last weekend on our Fiata. Likely 6 months before first production batch is here.

Next batch 15x10 likely arrives end of this week so we have these set to 'prepay' for the racers wanting to make sure they have a set for this season.
