I love the small details, the Rotary Start Button is a nice touch, that wiring loom scares the crap outta me though hahhaha.

You need a Mazdaspeed Steering wheel in that car to keep the Mazda Livery theme going!!

Mori-sans Roadster is so great!! I have chatted with him on FB he did a great job on that car!

As sweet as the engine is, I'm excited to see what's going on for suspension tuning.
It's certainly making all the right noises. :-) The thing that I'm really happy with is that we didn't have any cooling/lubrication/leak issues. It will be a couple of months now before I get to hear it again as it's time for the suspension and aero/body work to be done.

Yes, Mori-sans roadster is one of a kind and as you say, very well executed. :-)

Thank you so much for posting this! Extremely detailed information and I appreciate that!

I have been following another NC build and while a bit different, it is interesting to see where they both diverge and converge.

    http://www.trackhq.com/forums/f333/n...ar-build-7260/

The skill and knowledge crafting both NCs is fantastic.

    No problem.

Thanks for the heads up on that other build. Funny thing is I noticed that my aero guy posted in that thread.

    Cheers,
    Danny

Tuesday night was awesome. So good to hear it with a bit of load and revs.

Here's a few piccies from the dyno night.

I also took the opportunity to start tinkering with a new tool for my engineering business.

    Cheers,
    Danny

Today, I got the car delivered to the workshop to have the moulds make for the carbon panels and parts.

There was a headstart on the OEM carbon doors as I dropped a couple of spare doors off a few weeks ago.

The plugs are almost finished. I'm hoping that the moulds will be finished in a week or so.

    Cheers,
    Danny

Yep! All external surfaces (excluding the floor pan) will be carbon composite. I'd love to take it to Fuji International Speedway as well.

Time is flying by! WTAC 2014 is only 2 months away!!

The good news is that the build schedule is progressing well and in line with my estimated time frames. Whether I get a local test day in before heading to Sydney is still questionable....but not much of an issue as testing and fine tuning will still take a number of track days to complete anyway. Either way, the car will be at Eastern Creek.

Here are some photos of the body work currently being undertaken. At this stage I'm not posting any images of AMB Aero components or details.

As previously mentioned the guys undertaking the composite work on the NC were also doing Mick Sigsworth's Evo (Pro/Am Class). Well the build was completed in the week just gone and my god does it look awesome. Those of you who follow WTAC have probably already seen the photos....but I can tell you it looks even better in reality!!!

I can only hope the NC comes up half as good as Mick's Evo.

I've contracted Brett Rogers Motorsport Design to produce the livery design and vinyl wrap for the NC. Here's some media he's been drip feeding me over the last week.

T minus 59 days and counting.........

    Cheers,
    Danny

Progress is steady on the body/aero moulds. This is where the time and effort really goes.

The highest point of the rear diffuser is now in place.

The door moulds are almost finished.

As are the side skirt moulds.

....and most importantly the livery design is almost complete! Just a couple of other names to be positioned.

    Danny

The body moulds are still progressing well. This is the rear plug prior to sanding and polishing.

    After sanding and polishing.

The biggest carbon panel on the NC will be the rear. Its mould consists of 4 pieces. The next series of photos shows how the plug is sectioned so that the moulds can be made.

So that I can get the chassis back sooner than later we've set up a spare NC front cut to mould all the front panels from. A 1:1 scale of the heat exchanger assembly was knocked up in MDF and mounted to the front cut in the correct position.

I added some stilts on rollers to put it an easier working height and also to move around the workshop.

The front panels were then transferred across.

The chassis is starting to look a little naked and unloved now.

T minus 45 days and counting.........

    Cheers,
    Danny

September 2014 is here and it's full steam ahead!

The body moulds are well underway with the rear clip now finished and ready for the first carbon to be laid.

The next series of photos detail how the rear clip mould was manufactured. It is made up of four sections to facilitate the easy release of the product from the mould. There's other steps in between the images but nothing photo worthy.

    "Tooling" coat applied.

    LH section glassed.

    RH section glassed.

Setting up of the split plane for the top and bottom sections.

    Top and bottom sections glassed.

Releasing the LH section from the plug.

    ...and ta-da!

Releasing the RH section from the plug.

    ...and ta-da!!!

    The top section released.

Just the lower section to be released.

...and ta-da!!! From here the mould sections will be detailed and highly polished.

Here's some better shots of the rear plug with the chassis back on rubber.

The door outer moulds have been made and boxed.

...with the inside skin to be moulded next.

Now that the rear has been moulded the chassis I now have the chassis back at my workshop so that the outstanding fabrication work can be completed before going to paint.

    Wheels off!

Time to destroy tens of hours of plug work!
