Joining and Participating in the RDU Miatas Group Chat

For some time now, the RDU area Miata group has been using the GroupMe app to host a group chat. The intended purpose of this communications channel is to quickly sort out the logistics of our meets. Group chat discussion might include last minute updates on attendance, weather information, and location. The group chat is not a replacement for our discussion through this forum. If you are having car trouble, it is probably prudent to post your problem on the forum where it will reach a wider audience.

To get started, download the GroupMe app. It is available on both iOS and Android. When you open the app, you will see this:

It's your choice how you would like to log in.

After logging in you will find your group list, it's probably blank:

In your mobile device's web browser, navigate to this page: https://groupme.com/join_group/6929477/KIRWFV

    Click Join Group

Next you will be asked to log in again using the same name you used a minute ago.

Once you've logged in, the app should automatically open and the group will be added to your group list:

Under the RDU Miatas group there are names of the people in the group. Tap an individual's name to open a private chat or tap RDU Miatas to talk to the whole group.

This is what the group chat looks like:

Notice how there are messages from several people and the group has been notified that I joined.

If you would not like to receive notifications touch the button in the top right corner.

This is the group info page.

At the bottom of your screen you will see the notification button.

On this page you can see a list of the group's members and if they currently receive notifications. To disable notifications, simply tap the notifications button.

In the settings panel of the app there is an option to temporarily mute all notifications.
