    DIY Made It Yourself Thread

    This thread will be for the people too lazy to make a DIY thread or it's too complex to make one. Show off the cool trinkets and parts you made or in the process of making for your car. I'll start:

    Gauges.

    I made my first set of gauge about 10 years ago. It was VERY D-I-Y. Nowhere near as finished as the set you see above. Quite rough by my current standards and something I'd not sell now. But I was very proud of them at the time. The How-to can be found here.

    My current gauges are made with the help of about $2000 worth of machinery. They just barely qualify as DIY now days.

    Mine doesn't really count as a DIY that much either. I used a cnc lathe haha.

    S2000 Start Button (NA version)

    Another mod I did a bunch of years ago. I was, as far as I know, the first guy to put an S2000 start button in a Miata. I wrote up a big how to page which is still one of the most popular pages on my site.

    Push start is something I plan on doing eventually.

    A little switchbox I fabbed up out of the useless cubbyhole and a piece of plexiglass. I sprayed the inside flat black and masked off the icons with letters you get from the hobby store. Then I wired some green lights in so the icons light up at night.

    Yea you can tell the difference. I did that on purpose.

    Some prior projects:

    Naca duct windows


    Elise seat mount v1 (adapter for stock sliders)

    And though it's not Miata specific, almost everything on my Volvo was DIY, but my fave projects were the gauge cluster and the start button.


    Start button glows super bright green when ignition start toggle is primed, and then the illumination turns off when the safety is engaged.
