From what I've seen yes, I do think it is better. I could be wrong though

I've seen a lot of different diy intakes, Randall, and homemade randall without a box. All considered this has been one of the best that I have come across, and the cheapest.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get:

    -2" pvc 180 degree piece
    -2" pvc straight tube
    -pvc glue
    -2 Connectors
-Enough wiring to stretch your MAF harness across the engine bay.

Cut one "Flange" off of one side of the 180 so it fits in the connector, stretch it onto the throttle body. Cut the straight to your desired length and glue it into the connecting side of the 180, insert into the rubber connector and stretch onto MAF. Extend wiring to MAF and wrap... You're done.

If you can find a rubber 180 that would probably work better.

Not many people believe the arc does much. Before adding a charger ran a 1.6 NA with an arc, k&n panel Filter, and standard drilled air box ( on the cold side) and got some noticeable gains. No proof but the engine definatly had added mid range and a little better top end I'm convinced. I also ran a decat, RB exhaust, mazdaspeed 4-1 manifold and 14 degree advanced timing. Ran very sweet.

RB 180 and K&N on the stock AFM. Seems to do what it says on the tin, if nothing else the grunt was worth the price of admission. It will do nicely until I go to throttle bodies.

I have a Jackson racing cold air intake and I am quite satisfied with the performance and upgrade.
