Rather fitting that this order from Nakamae I placed a few months ago arrived at my home today.
The story begins towards the start of the year when I started looking at bucket seats for my Pitcrew build. I asked my friend/supplier in Japan if Nakamae would still do their Type R seat. In my opinion the Nakamae Type R seat is the ultimate classic bucket seat for a roadster. It combines Japanese quality build with classic styling and having been designed by Nakamae bolt straight to MX5 runners and sit you just right in a MX5 (neither too low or too high like some aftermarket seats).
I had looked on the Nakamae website and noticed they were discontinued and the sadly response back was Nakamae had stopped making the seats.
Instead I went in another direction seats wise but continued to look on Yahoo for suitable Nakamae seats but found none in the S/R/LE Limited red I needed for my S Limited Pitcrew roadster. I have been in the MX5 game too long but was always admired Phatmiata's build threads from back in the day on Miata.net with these seats so great to own a similar set now.
Over the year I continued to get parts in from my friend/supplier in Japan and shared back the build thread on the Pitcrew roadster which Nakamae continued to supply parts for.
Moving the story to completion a few months ago I again asked if Nakamae would do me a classic bucket seat and this time to my delight and surprise was told Nakamae would do a special order and make me a set of Nakamae Type R seats in the correct red for a S/R/LE Limited. A order was quickly placed and I patiently waited for them to be made.
They left Japan a few weeks ago but 1 turned up quickly while the other go delayed in UK customs but today both arrived home together.
In the box.
Out of the box.
Wrapping off and the spare seat runners I had fitted.
Headrests fitted ready to go in the car.
And they will be going in the Pitcrew so the red leather Kelvar recaros will be going up for sale in the new year unless they go in the R Limited which is basically a MK1 RS Limited and I create a R Limited +
