4,000 rpm - entering the fun zone
Thanks God, the Holy Grail and Mary these cars didn't become Vettes, they are ugly as hell

6,000 rpm - mere mortals would shift
Eh, the Aerovette could have been a step in the right direction. Mr. Duntov was all for a smallblock mid-engine Corvette.
Still waiting for a return of a DOHC V8 in the Corvette.

Corvette Nomad is cool, that Ferrari Vette is just a plain old rip off.

I agree, and according to my grandfather who was an assistant plant manager for GM Detroit Forge in the 1950's 25 Corvettes with Cadillac V8's and automatic transmission were built by GM in 1954. They were built because the Corvette was not well received by the public since its release in 1953. Managers at GM wanted the cars built to be on the streets of Detroit to raise interest in the Corvette in 1954. A raffle was held with only certain management level employees who applied being eligible. My grandfather who was one of the employees who won a car for his use. Him the others who won in the lottery were never provided the cars. GM's legal department nixed the plan because of the liability it could cause GM. GM destroyed the cars and no one at GM drove one on the streets of Detroit. In 1955 the V8 Corvette came out and was successfully received.
By the way that is a beautiful 1954 Pontiac on display in the background at the auto show.
