Im wanting to get the Zoom Luggage Rack for my NA Miata. Based on pictures it fits with the OEM hardtop. But it doesnt look like it uses the rear latches. Does anyone know how it installs? Do you have to remove the rear latches?
Thanks

There seem to be two different models. Here are the instruction manuals, they should help.

Its confusing. It seems they offer two (one seems thicker than the other) but both of them are pictured with hardtops. Except the thick one it shows the hardtop with the rear latches.

What do you mean? It's right there in the first photo - bolts down under the Frankenstein bolts. The bracket is nearly identical on both racks.
It's not an standard OEM hardtop. Mazdaspeed or Wataru01 or similar - see the rear window.
Williwonga has the lighter one. Really cool how it pivots at the Frankenstein bolt when the trunk is open. He's running an MS hardtop.
Roadster7, believe the first promo shot is with the discontinued Zoom engineering hardtop.
That makes sense, I always forget they made one too.
Have you thought about sqirllmods' luggage rack - not chrome/retro but a great rack IMO.
Hello hungry hippo,
I think i can answer some of your questions.
I purchased the light version and i was able to install it on a oem ht. But it will be a very tight fit between the rear ht latches and the front luggage rack brackets.and if your ht is missing the protective rubber gaskets that are under the ht rear latches, i would recommend getting them, or there will be metal on metal contact and will make your cringe everytime you go over any imperfection on the road.
Keep in mind, you will probably have to fiddle with the fitment of the luggage rack with the ht. It may require tightening some areas of the kit as sometimes they come slightly loose after opening and closing the trunk over time.
You will have to remove the oem frankenstein bolts and use the hardware they supply that will secure the bracket down as well as act as a frankensfein bolt for the ht. You are going to have to take out the small screw holding the covers of the rear ht latches to be able to properly install the ht with the rack.
Its the best luggage rack for the miata in my opinion. I was able to run my very light fiberglass trunk lid with no worries of the stuff crushing my lid. And zoom said it can hold up to 100lbs safely. The construction, welds, and functionality is top notch.
Let ms know if you have anymore questions and i will do my best to answer them.
