    Possible DIY Thread?

It would be really cool for all us DIY guys if we could get a thread started by a mod. I'd be down to post a writeup

For now, I'd suggest posting DIY's in the relevant section of the forum. Mods can stick your posts to the top of the forum, or create a sticky "index" of DIY posts.

In the future (hopefully not too distant), we're considering setting up a Miata wiki that would include this sort of information and make it much more accessible.

You're welcome! I've always been a fan of DIY and I am making a hardtop spoiler tomorrow that I'm doing a writeup for and I'm redoing my door panels within the month that I was planning on showing as well.

In the DIY forum is it okay to link to another person's write up?

OMFG do it now. Put "the garage" out of business. Great idea.

We need to respect the authors rights, whether they "claim" them or not. My opinion is that we should ask for permission before linking or copying. (maybe they'll want to sign up here and handle it theirself?) If the author can't be contacted and it's "old" stuff that was posted to the internet with no obvious copyright claims, then do what you want.

To avoid dead links, I'd recommend at least copying the whole thing here and THEN linking to the source. Then if the source goes offline, we've still got our copy.

We're only 3 weeks into a brand new forum, plenty of setup and refinement to do before taking on a big project like that. But, we all like the idea, so I'm sure it will happen.

As a stepping stone to the future Wiki, we're setting up a DIY section. Actually, it's already set up, just not open yet. As soon as we're sure we like the way it's set up, we'll open it.

Heck yeah! That wiki will be full of so much win! I'm going to hold my write up post until its open, but trust me it's ready. I just got the wing mounted to the car and also finished my buddys for his rx8

The DIY section is open now. Go ahead and post stuff if you've got it. When we go live with the Wiki, it will be a lot cooler to have some initial stuff to put in it instead of just putting up an empty Wiki!
