Question 14 inch wheels for my 1999

Does anyone know what light 14 inch wheels are a good fit for my base 1999 miata? Bought car with brand new tires on stock 14 inch wheels. I know weight makes a difference. Doesn't seem to be a lot of choices. Any ideas? Looking at american racing estrellas but not sure how much they weigh?

There are a lot of options, but not for tires. 185/60,195/60, then 205/55 or 225/50 which a generally r-comp sizing. There are a few other oddball sizes, but they typically don't come in a sticky compound.

195/60 Azenis are a great all around tire.
So are the 185 Star Specs of 205 R888's

There are a few all season tires left but those arent worth a mention.

You can look into 14x7 panasport wheels as well.

Yeah, don't let me discourage you! I ran 14" wheels for years. I loved testing how much agility I could could muster from a set of 195/60-14 Azenis on the track. It was really entertaining and helped me improve my inputs. A lightweight wheel/tire combo feels really neat on a Miata, the taller sidewall also help soak up road impacts a lot better, too.

+1 I also love the small wheel fat tire look. But everything said above is so true. I can respect a 15x9 wheel with sticky rubber but I think early Miatas shine with 14"s

RPF1, Watanabe or Panasports Ultralight w/ 195/60-14 Azenis. There's Kosei, which is a cheaper alternative, but it's light and it works. If I were you, I wold just use up the tires you have and step up to 15" wheels for more wheel & tire selection. In addition, 205mm tires have mad grip. I ran 185mm on daisies for a year, it looked nice and I like the weight; however, the traction was inadequate. 195mm was all you needed, but 205mm tires was just plain great.

I would have offered you my BBS for $250, it came with fresh 195mm tires but I already sold it yesterday.

Federal also makes a 185/55/14 size. The side walls are pretty big and look like 185/60. Its not a race or a super sticky compound, but it does fine in street and spirited drives.

Think about the stock hollow spokes. 14 inch, no curb rash or blemishes. PM me if interested. Also have pretty good Toyo Proxes on them.
