If I had to guess, it would be fiberglass.
96 Montego, replacing a 95M... I miss: My running peeps in Tampa, running barefoot @ Clearwater Beach and First Choice BBQ, in Brandon. In So Cal I miss: The Malibu Canyons, CA 33 and In & Out Burgers ! I'm from Tampa, if I was from Tampa Bay, I'd be a fish!
how big are the chips? pictures with a coin next to them for reference would be helpful.
Been there, done that. SMC can be repaired using typical fiberglass repair methods. Depending on the size and shape of the chips, I like using some epoxy resin mixed with some Thixotropic Silica and 1/16 inch Milled Glass Fibers. It can be a real pain to sand smooth so careful application is a must.
thank you!!! and also the side on the passenger of to top is coming off like if the smc shell is coming off the metal inside :O what can I use to stick it back !
If the inner shell is coming apart from the outer shell then I would use a low viscosity epoxy to mend them back again.

3M filler glaze or any high end body glaze from Napa will do.
