    Newo, The MSM Black Cat

This is a cross post and I spun some bearings in the engine on Sunday as well as turning the turbo into poop; currently looking into options. I'm bored and I love my stupid little roadster and I want to do fast things forever and ever. Ya know, I did a stupid thing and went a couple of weeks without checking my oil. It got low, and I went very fast and killed the car on the exit of a 270* 3rd gear sweeper most likely due to lack of lube.

I bought my 2005 Black Mica MSM on August 19th, 2013 with 19,840 miles. The car was pristine, and had some bolt ons plus stock parts. I was looking around for a while, and the only cars that had fit my criteria were out of state (A Lava in New Orleans and a Velocity Red in Montana).
The car is a GT package car, and came with bolt ons and two sets of wheels, a Hard Dog M2 Sport, and Flyin Miata Stage 1 Suspension. This is the car before picking it up.

So, a couple of things have happened. The engine was pulled Wednesday and the new one will be going in Tuesday. It is a 2004 Mazdaspeed engine with a fully upgraded Deadbolt turbo. I'll be fuel injector limited for a while to 210-220whp, but a +40whp bump with a much more linear turbo will be nice. I will also be getting an Adaptronic Select ECU for the MSM, which a local friend happens to have from a parts car that he bought. No more 6500rpm bullshit. I'll be taking the engine to 7400rpm, everything I've read (and what I've seen this engine do repeatedly) tells me that 7400rpm will be absolutely no issue. This engine is coming from a friend of mine out of his white '94 NA (will be getting a 400whp 13b) and it runs great, compression numbers were all fine, and he's been taking it to 8000rpm for the past 12,000 miles with no issue (and this turbo is still doing it's thing up there).
I also did a preliminary cut on the rear bumper with Ihatecars (he cuts way cleaner than I do). I drove his car and it's officially the best NA I've been in. I never realized how much I like the 1.6 and how happy it is when in good condition.

It's better than it being the garage queen that it was. It still only has one almost invisible ding in it below the driver door mirror, and the interior is a 9/10. The transmission and clutch work like new still, and it is getting a new engine and I'll likely build the vin matching block with some good parts at some point. Since day one that end goal has been make the car do exactly what I want it to do at any speed with confidence. I'm 1/10th of the way there, and will not sell. Things will be cut, the bumper has been replaced once already due to a rear ending and now again (paint damage) and I have plans for a splitter/undertray/diffuser layout so why not cut now? It's fun.

My comment was in regards to the questionable god complex driving habits that you seem to have edited out of your first post, not the modifications you are doing.

Not a god complex, I do things on my own though, and have never had any close calls. The slower I seem to drive, the more time I spend avoiding Houston drivers that can't see me. I am still that guy that always holds a following distance and blinkers. A lot can happen in 40,000 miles though, and while I don't recommend jumping your Miata, I can say jumping a car is some of the best fun you can have, and I will try to get into stage rally now someday.

That Ihatecars guy has a lame Miata and his cutting skills are questionable at best.

It's good to see you on here finally, Ethan.
