Are they cast aluminum painted black?

My original bases are and these look to be. Just a little pitted around the screw holes.

I didn't realize the bases were aluminum. I thought they were plastic . Makes sense though, the rollbars are aluminum also. The m2 1028 half cage is so damn light!
