It looks EPIC in that dash. I am very interested in the surround piece! It makes the entire install.

I finally autocrossed! Lots of fun

Didn't know my class, one of the head guys suggested STS, until he asked if I have a catalytic. Nope, had to run SSM and was outgunned. I have a new cat on the way, which would put me in STS again however I just installed FM louvers and that one mod will put me right back in SSM (or SM ?). I'm still pretty unclear about the classing. (edit - I may have spoke too soon here.)

I found an outdated "DIY" classing website from 2012 (www.odr-scca.org/DIY-classing.htm). According to that my car is best suited for STC/STS but those damn louvers.... Can anyone help and explain the difference between SM and SSM? As far as I can tell they're very similar. But if SM allows me to be a little more competitive than SSM, cool. I was almost 5 seconds behind the SSM leaders.

If anyone knows classing, here's my upgrades:

front strut tower bar, front sway bar, tein springs, 15" wheels & 195 tires(+1 each), stainless lines, pads, mazdaspeed motor mounts, front lip, hood louvers, roll bar, steering wheel, intake, high flow cat, cat-back, timing advanced, FM frame rails, GarageStar door bushings...

Thats just crazy that FM louvers would bump you to a more competitive class.

Washed both floor mats. The only miata related work I've done in months.

My son and I installed a new speedometer cable yesterday. While I was inspecting things I noticed the vacuum line on the bottom the charcoal canister moved a lot. I pulled out the canister and the circled part on the bottom was broken off:

    (not my actual part)

Anyway, I used these instructions to remove the canister:
    https://sevenstarleaf.wordpress.com/...ister-removal/

I've only driven about 30 miles since doing this, but I think my idle is better now. Doesn't seem to hang at 1500rpm then drop to 850rpm after a few seconds like it did before removing the canister. Is that possible? Maybe a coincidence?

It's connected to the vacuum system, so if that had broken off, you essentially had a vacuum leak.

Willywongka and I met up to work on our roadsters over the weekend. Made some mesh pieces for the Jetstream TSIs. Thanks to Adam for the inspiration!

Finally installed my Trap Spoiler and OEM trunk with the KG Roadster brake cover.

I like the wing a lot. It looks better in person, but I haven't been able to take a good pic from the side/front.

Threw on the new Magnaflow high-flow catalytic this evening. Emissions and STS compliant now

Update to the classing situation: Dug deeper and got the 2016 rules. Non-functional vents and scoops are allowed in Street Touring however there is a provision stating that some leeway in bodywork allowances is encouraged. My louvers should be a-ok in that case! All other current mods are within the SCCA ST rules

Nothing today but I did order a Jass camera mount! $48 shipped.

    http://www.jassperformance.com/shop/...1/Camera_Mount

Plan is to record any upcoming autocross runs, time killing on/off-ramp rips or scenic/backroad drives
