    Devon's Red Roadster

There it is, right after the test drive and exchange of cash and paperwork. My 1996 Miata with 195k miles. First order of business was a car wash cleans up pretty well.
After driving the car for a few weeks it developed a misfire and belt squeal. Decided then would be a good time to go to town and do a bunch of maintenance. Spark plugs, wires, valve cover gasket, CAS O-ring, PCV valve and grommet, serpentine belts, fuel filter.
Found that misfire! Good thing I got a valve cover gasket, all 4 plugs were soaked in oil I'm surprised they even fired. valve cover has seen better days luckily everything under it was much better looking. cleaned up the front of the motor while I had everything apart. weight reduction bro! Half of the fins disintegrated on my radiator. pulled out some engine bay cluttering items. Cruise control, coolant overflow, and charcoal canister all got the boot. Radiator got replaced with an aluminum one and red silicon hoses. also installed a strut bar from my other Miata.

Fast forward a week or so... winter tires on some nb wheels I had kicking around.

Ultimate goal for this car is to keep it reliable and practical for daily driving, occasional road trips and to just have fun with it. That being said the car will not stay stock but also won't be a race/track car. Most of my time already has been spent on cleaning it up catching up on any maintenance that may have been missed the last 195k miles.

Some good old fashioned preventative maintenance is always a good idea! Glad you made a build thread to share your progress!

Test fit of my ssr mkiii to see what I need to run for a spacer.

Thanks! I also used them on the headlight buckets but don't seem to have a picture of it.

out with the old... and in with the new!

Got this boot from top gaiters on eBay. They are extremely well priced so I would suggest them to anyone that is thinking of changing out the boot. They have a variety of colors for stitch and leather options, I just went with the plain black on black not a huge fan of vibrant colors on the interior. looks much cleaner now, I just feel as though everything is much shinier than the boot.

Also don't think i ever posted a picture of the wheel I have in the car. Momo veloce from the late 80's. I've had this wheel in almost every one of my cars since I found it. New cars just don't feel like they are truly mine until I've put this wheel in them.

    Devon's Red Roadster

Wow pretty blue shiney redBoo crap coilovers, hopefully the garagestar tophats will help with ride quality

Got the Project mu pads for a very good deal been meaning to replace the crap duralast pads in the rear for some time now, and as part of another deal I made with a friend got the tie rods for free. They are FC rx7 Megan ( or so I am told, I always thought that Megan components were blue with there logo on them) heim jointed tie rods. Hopefully these will prevent bump steer once the car is lowered, if not... hey they were free. I also got free new in box NB raceland coilovers that I am going to be using on the car until I can get some decent coilovers. This is just temporary since my near 200k suspension is very tired and feels like I'm driving a shopping cart.

In other news I decided to make an egr block off out of some aluminum I had kicking around the shop.

    Traced the gaskets
    Drilled and cut them out
And then mounted them up to my extra intake manifold. Having that really helped mocking everything up properly.

Got an alignment done on the car recently and it drives 100x better than before, I also scored an awesome deal locally on a racing beat intake pictured here in my disgusting engine bay. I also mounted up my trunk spoiler I'm not in love with the way it looks, it may grow on me or I may end up painting it red. In addition to that stuff I swapped out my led cluster lights for something a bit more mellow. Factory bulbs without the condoms, much less vibrant at night. that's it for now, should have some front hubs coming in soon as well as an r package front lip.
