Hello everyone, my name is Grayson and I am from Houston, Texas. I will be starting my build thread tonight since I have made some decent progress on my 1999 Miata. About me, I am 19 and in college and I have my own mobile car detailing business since my school schedule doesn't work well with most jobs. Progress on my build thread will be slow, just so you know what you're in for. I hope I will be able to contribute to this site as I have been browsing it for a while and have decided to make it my forum home.

Welcome! From and old guy that works on cars for a living and has to find time to tinker on his own. My build is Noir and she comes into the light slowly. We are not a flame group. We all have different ideas, plans and thoughts. Just put out what you think and ask what you want opinions on. You have a good bunch of guys down your way. Hey I have a question: how come sites like Autogeek push slow-speed, random orbital buffers like the Porter Cable but every car restoration show I see, the guys are using a high-speed, non-random buffers?

Slow-speed is the main thing they are pushing and that is simply because you are much less likely to do damage to paint at a lower speed. High-speed buffers can be much more efficient but it is easy to damage or burn the paint with them. They are best used with the touch of someone who really knows what they are doing. I started with a Porter Cable and it does it's job very well. With some experience under my belt i've upgraded to a Rupes. Thank you guys for all of the warm welcomes!

Also, I thought I might add that on some car restorations, the paint is so marred up and sun damaged that a slow-speed polisher wont really cut deep enough into the paint to really restore it and remove the damage.

Your build thread is probably my favorite to read through tsingson, and yeah I love that about this forum. I've gathered that you may also be a sneaker-head, I can't call my collection impressive but I always enjoy talking shoes if you want haha.

I'm not into it as much as I once was but I still have a little bit of heat. I have given a lot away to cousins or nephews that aren't able to afford some of the shoes. I appreciate the kind words about my NB. It definitely wouldn't be the way it is without this forum.
