Hi Y'all LA Jerry from Lower Alabama

I have owned two Miata's, a 1997 M Edition purchased new in 1998, and now a used 2003 LS Rdstr needing lots of TLC! I bought the car from a used car dealer in Pensacola, FL (nearby to LA). It had a few small cosmetic issues I could fix myself, but, turned out needing much more! So far, I have done a valve job (as I over heated it when a heater pipe gasket blew), and while we had it apart, replaced all rubber hoses, all seals and gaskets, fixed a front crank seal oil leak, new water pump, thermostat, timing belt, also changed a bad O2 sensor in header pipe, and repaired wiring on power strg pump pressure sender. I also bought a new Robbins Top w/new rain gutters/defroster window, and repaired stitching on passenger seat. I have also done a bunch of touchup paint to front and rear bumpers, fixed many bad scratches and polished out some minor scratches. Now I need a new set of tires. I got a good price on a set of BFG G-Force Sport A/S 87W at $505 out the door installed and balanced. However, I would like to hear from some of you if you have used these tires. My most enjoyable driving is very fast around corners/curves, so traction in cornering is the big question. The tread looks right, but, experience is the best teacher for a final opinion.

One light doesn't work, the automatic shifter position display bulb is out. If anyone knows how the trim comes apart w/o breaking anything, please tell me! This is my first sports car w/auto shift. Since you can shut off the overdrive and select each gear manually, I think I will like it. My first sports car was a 1954 TR-2 w/modified running gear, had many MGs, a Jag, 2 AC Cobra 427s and a 2000 Vette w/6 speed as well as the old Miata. My last fun car was a Pontiac Bonneville Convertible w/428 HO, hydro and posi-traction. I guess I just gave away my old age, huh?

Welcome ol'timer. I have gray in my beard and owned some classics, also. I'm stuck in the '90's with MX but I'm sure some of these folks can help.
