    Low speed shudders like that, while braking, could indicate some worn steering components. This is not to alarm you, as I would suspect brakes first, but be sure to check the condition of your tie rod ends and lower ball joints for excessive play.

    Thanks for giving me something extra to check. This car has had the same described shimmy since I bought it. It for certain needs rear pads/rotors, but while it's in the air, I'll give the balls a good tugging.

    Likely just warped front rotors, but that does put a lot of strain on steering components over time.
