soft top zipper. help before rain arrives!

So i just bought myself a 92 with 101k with original top and window and everything is still in top shape besides the zipper. The teeth are fine but the actual zip part you pull is shot. It doesnt seal up the zipper at all and is old and mangled. Is there a way to replace just the zip piece i know i should be able to because everything else is fine, but how would i go about doing that. I have about 4 days before chance of rain and want to fix it before. Is there a local shop that anyone knows that would just pop in and fix a zipper. Im thinking it shouldnt cost too much. Thanks for any help.

You can take it to a shop that does tops, but they will most likely tell you just to get a new top. And I would say just get a new top as well. If you are on a budget maybe get a used top w/frame for a bolt on application, check with our used parts vendors to see if they have any available.

People's default response will always be "Replace the top" When I had to get my rear window replaced. People just said to replace the top. But I instead got a place to just sew in a new rear window for ~$150 instead of what? almost $400 for a new top? Just take it to an auto upholstery shop and they should be able to do something. even if its $40 to do something so simple. Its better then getting a new top.

im glad you fixed it like you did. for those of you who dont know any better, zippers have a sort of "thread size" like a bolt. many different ones but if you ever just break the zipper pull on anything its like pennies to fix... dont ever go buying an entire top for that one $0.10 part that you can get at Jo-Ann Fabric lol. if yu do... sell the top to me i'll gladly spend my hard earned money on a zipper pull!
