I’ve looked at some tires for the wheels and I am undecisive about my choices.
I want to start by saying that on the FD stock wheels, which are 16x8, I ran a phased out Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 and I was satisfied with the performance. I ran a tight alignment that prolonged the life and added stability for fast turns. I sometimes wish it was stickier while autocrossing because of the power management I had to learn. It also was good in the rain but was cautious at highway speeds of 55 or more.
The 18s will be stiffer since they are taller then the 16s and the 10s in the rear will help with stability and oversteering. The rears will have 265/35s.The 9.5s in front will be to help with the turning radius of the car. The front will have 255/35
I am concerned about safety but do not want to take away the fun of driving on high tread wear either.
I was considering the New Michelin Pilot Sport or the new Dunlop DIII.
The Michelin’s are rated really well but have a treadwear of 300 and I don’t feel they will be sticky enough to contain the 410hp that the Rx7 has twin turbo. On the other hand, the Dunlop D3 has 0 ratings.

My eyes are glazing at the cost of those tires. Anything over $100/tire makes my eyebrows twitch

A few 86 (FRS/BRZ) owners local to me have rave reviews of the D3s. These are heavy track guys with power upgrades. I have been happy with my Conti ESCs. They are about 90% of the grip I had with my Rival S, but they are a LOT quieter and terrific in the rain. The pricing was quite good as well.
I track my Miata on them, but the majority of their use is commuting around town. I accept that compromise and I feel it makes me a better driver because what I learn on the track translates to the street directly.
If I were doing TA/TT (time attack/time trials) again, I would run a separate set of tires and wheels for that.

Sorry to hear about the accident Gerald but glad Jeanne and you are ok. Look forward to this build.

The greddy v mount came through after a 8 week lead time from the company.
I also ordered the Dunlop Direzza III and will have them mounted on the SL’s with a touchless tire mounting machine.
