I think the purpose of the "goofy" fog light mounting shown in the thread above is so the lights do not impede air flow into the radiator. So a functional design.

You are very much correct!! I had the Racing Beat setup that was mounted inside the mouth of the miata, and those lights would constantly blow a fuse from too much heat, Im sure it didnt help the radiator in cooling either!

I can agree that is why I prefer these over the regular Eunos Fog Lights, they have much better flow of air for the radiator and the goofy looks makes me like them even more.
