How to dye leather or vinyl?

    Hi,

Just wanted to know, if anyone had experience dyeing leather or vinyl into another color.

I've seen online some spray cans that do the job... but don't know the final result.

I'm looking forward to dye some red leather parts in black or brown.

    Thanks! =)

Someone just did a pair of seats to black and it looked pretty impressive. I'll try to find the thread if he doesn't speak up sooner. We're waiting to see how they hold up to weather, use and time...and his clothing.

I'm still waiting to read how well his seats are holding up to wear.

I'm curious too, but the dyeing I want to do isn't for the seats :-)

Is it for your hair? You know, it's normal to get a little grey with age. Don't worry about it too much.

don't mean to dig up an old thread here, but i'm considering dying my tan door panels black with a process of "Vinegaroon" and just curious if you or anyone else knows about it.. and could possibly advise me about it.

Adding this to the thread. I restored an old Momo wheel. It is one of the very least popular blog posts I've ever written. lol

As for dying door panels, I'd honestly recommend spray dye. Strip the tan dye as much as possible and then spray on some black. Easy and simple.

Adam, do you have a preferred brand of dye for carpets?

yeah i remember reading this. since i don't know the reasoning, why would i need to strip the tan dye? or do you know if it's even dyed OEM? because when i lift the folded tab of material on the back, it seems tan all the way through. and how come you'd recommend spray dye as opposed to the Vinegaroon?
