clutch issues

So friday night driving home and my clutch was acting strange?..

1st off i did have 87 in gas tank and filled up with 91 not thinking but then on way home if i was in 1st in traffic and it was for more then 10-15 seconds the car would engage the gear with the brake on and start driving by itself. As i tried to take out of gear it wouldn't come out. So it was like the car drove itself. But it has been happening a lot. when it is out of gear i tested my theory and it feels like the clutch is down when i left off of it. honestly not sure how else to explain it. other then now it stays in gear when i hold the clutch down for more then 10-15 seconds and if i dont let the car go like letting of brakes then it will stall out??

any suggestions??

Your clutch slave is bad. It's on the passenger side, bolted to the tranny. Pull back the rubber bellows on it and see if brake fluid is present. If it is, it's bad. Replace it, bleed it. If you are so inclined, a braided clutch line can be added while you're in there. If it is dry, try bleeding it. If that doesn't help, the clutch master is bad. If it is, replace the master and the cylinder. 949 Racing has a great price on the slave. Their racing clutch line is awesome to make changing the slave easier. The master you will have to purchase at an autoparts store.

ok.. sounds like a fun weekend/couple weekends.. once the 300 is back up and running the miata's going down under for a little bit

I just recently replaced the slave cylinder on my car. It's pretty simple and easy, and doesn't take that long either. Just grab a buddy to help you bleed the clutch line and you can have it done in no time! All you have to do is jack up that one corner, take the wheel off, and then everything is accessible.

i just had this issue, although i replaced the slave and master cylinders ( hoping for an easy, read " cheap" fix) it was not

the hardest part of changing the slave and master cylinder is bleeding it correctly... R&R time is an easy 10 - 15 minute job on either one of the cylinders if it your first time...
make sure you have a buddy to help you bleed you clutch lines though

did you eventually get this fixed? i just found out my car recently was doing the exact same thing the other day and at first i thought it was the "stuck in reverse" issue.
