What are your favorite Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars?

What are your favorite Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars?

Collecting model die-cast vehicles is one of the most popular, and most under-publicized hobbies in America. More than 200 million die-cast vehicles are purchased each year! Within the past decade the die-cast car collecting phenomenon has become a world wide passion, reaching Japan, Brazil, Germany, and Australia. Most people don't start to love cars as soon as they are old enough to drive though, it starts when we are young children playing with these great little toy Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Do you remember what your FIRST Hot Wheels or Matchbox car was? What is your all time favorite die-cast Hot Wheels or matchbox car?? It's okay, you can come out of hiding now, we know you are out there!

Chances are eBay probably has that car listed you played with as a kid.

Here is my top 10 favorite castings (go to ebay like me and grab some photos & post your own favorites!)

The Drag Buss is cool, but I really like the old school RedLines era. I would say,

    Bye-Focal / Show Off

    Evil Weevil

    Mighty Maverick

    Torino Stocker

    Heavy Chevy

    Show Hoss II

    Pictures later.

I have a beat Evil Weevil from my childhood. I also like the 68 Camaro, Hotbird and Roger Dodger.

really had to think about which ones i liked to play with the most as a little kid and even now as a 20 year old kid.

i remember this car very well. was probably my favorite to play with as a kid and is probably why i like alfa's so much.

obviously i had a police car

cant think of what else i played with a lot. i had hundreds of hotwheels, still do but they are across the country with my parents now. had quite a few ferrari 308's.

i have a LOT. but how is the Hako racing skyline not on anyones' list?? or the Ken/Mary skyline?! Jun Imai is the best designer! he brought the 510, ae86, skylines, etc to market.

matchbox is great. i mean, yeah, they do make a prius, but at least they are realistic. they make a baller FJ40.

For a very short time I possessed a pink rear-boarded beach bomb.

Bet you didn't. They were prototypes that never even made it into retail packaging. A version with the board in pockets on the SIDES of the van was sold, but the rear-load boards never did.

Correct, and only a very few of the rear loading Beach Bombs were ever made...pink being the "Holy Grail"... One sold for a reported $72,000 dollars.
