There are certain makes and models you can buy wire harnesses for.
In some cases, the harnesses are reproduced exactly how the manufacturers did it, like old British cars with braided cloth looms.

Yeah, mostly desirable muscle cars or collectibles, but I think also for pickup trucks as well. Mike Brewer (Wheeler Dealers) has a tour of one of these manufactures that builds these brand new, replicated wire harnesses in his new Motortrend show. I knew they were available, but not to the level of detail of that one particular company manufactures.

Rywire and K-Tuned has some awesome harnesses.
It would be quite easy to make a NB miata engine harness from scratch. Wire diagrams exist, all connectors are market-available, and modern looming materials are much better than what was available 20 years ago. I am doing something similar for my engine swap, as I have bought a used loom with 50k miles which I am rebuilding to my needs, replacing work connectors etc. Need to check how much it would cost to make a full one from scratch though.
Now back to topic!

So, life intrudes etc. Got my travel arrangements and was busy getting stuff done before leaving, hence I didn't get to post a picture. I did shoot one just before I left because I know many of you need that physical proof.
You can see where the battery connector comes up from the compartment. This is how she sits for the next period of time.

After many long months away I finally got home New Year's Eve. Was supposed to be Christmas Eve but thanks to stupidity (and I'm being nice) that didn't happen. Got her out, coat of dust and all. The battery charger did its job and she fired right up. Did some driving, had to take her to a self-serve car wash to get the dust off since it was too cold for even me to hand wash. Point of reference, it takes about twenty miles for the tires to go from D-shaped to round after sitting for seven months.
Now that things have settled down somewhat, I am moving ahead with my next project. Have some front hubs with bearings ordered, already received the Redline CV2 grease I'm going to use to repack them. Just got home from the dealer and ordering the front brake dust shields that I need to match up with the Sport brakes. Figured while I'm in the area anyway I might as well put the right ones in. I also have a small welder inbound and a hanger so I can put in a proper fourth support for the muffler.

This was last week but I was having trouble getting onto my photo sharing site so I could post pictures. I found a printed cam sprocket tool and bought it. When I got it I placed my FM tool on top to show how it lines up:
The printed one is much wider so I expect it will stay in place better than the metal FM one. I don't have a timing belt job in the near future but thought I'd go ahead and pick this one up. If anyone is interested I can provide the link to the eBay auction.

Yes but can it open beer bottles like the FM tool can?
No todo que es oro brilla.

Oddly enough, I have designed and made something between the two a few months back. It retains the "best" features, namely metal, hex recesses for the most common bolt size (10mm), ziptie slots and of course beer opening capabilities
