UPDATED : $35,000 SOLD

Chassis: JM1NA3510P1407567

This Mazda Miata Limited Edition is number 82 of approximately 1,500 produced for the 1993 model year, and was acquired by the seller in 2016 from its original owner who purchased it at Wagoneer Mazda in Springfield, Illinois. The car is finished in black over red leather, and power is provided by a 1.6-liter DOHC inline-four driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a viscous limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes forged BBS wheels, a hardtop, front and rear spoilers, air conditioning, cruise control, and a CD stereo. Work under current ownership consisted of replacing the timing belt and ignition components as well as fluid changes for the drivetrain, cooling system, and brakes. This NA LE Miata shows 8k miles and is offered with a hardtop, a tonneau cover, original sales paperwork, manufacturer’s literature, factory and new old-stock parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.

Each 1993 Limited Edition was finished in Brilliant Black (PZ) and came fitted with a lower rear valance as well as front and rear spoilers. This example features gold badging that was added by the original dealer, and is said to be one of 500 fitted with an optional hardtop featuring a rear defroster. A three-stage paint correction was performed under current ownership. A scratch is noted on the hardtop along with several chips on the front fender and hood, and a bottle of Dr. ColorChip touch-up paint will be included in the sale. A walk-around video has been provided by the seller.

The black convertible top and hardtop are accompanied by the red factory boot, tonneau cover, and defroster cable shown in the photo gallery below, which also contains close-up photos of the retractable headlights in their raised position. Factory 14″ forged BBS wheels wear period 185/60 Bridgestone SF-325 tires which are mounted over ABS equipped disc brakes at all four corners. The brake fluid was changed under current ownership. The NA Miata’s double-wishbone independent suspension was factory-equipped with Bilstein shocks, stiffer and shorter springs, and revised sway bars on Limited Edition cars.

The red cockpit features leather-trimmed sport seats that integrate headrest speakers in addition to bass “thumpers” in the lower backrests. Matching door panels feature unique LE speaker covers, and carpets protected by floor mats with stitched Miata logos. Stainless steel trim accents the door speakers and sills. Amenities include air conditioning, rear window defroster, and cruise control as well as power windows, door locks, and mirrors. The MSSS Pioneer Bodysonic Mazda Sensory Sound System features a silver-faced cassette and CD stereo, door-mounted tweeters, and a power antenna in addition to the aforementioned seat speakers.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel matches the leather Nardi shift knob first used in the LE, and frames a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline and a 140-mph speedometer surrounded by oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows just under 8k miles, 500 of which were added by the seller.

The 1.6-liter inline-four features a long-nose crank and drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and an optional viscous limited-slip differential. The engine was rated at 116 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 100 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm when new. Work under current ownership included replacement of the timing belt, spark plugs, ignition wires, and fuel filter as well as oil and coolant changes.

The transmission, brake, clutch, and differential were also serviced with fresh fluids. The seller notes the presence of factory paint markings, ink stamps, and paper tags in the engine bay and on various underbody components.

The window sticker lists Limited Edition equipment in addition to the optional hardtop. Correspondence between the original owner and Mazda North America shows this car as sequence number 82 of the 1,500 1993 Limited Edition examples produced.
